The injury that gave my life a new direction

Its the second of july 2021. The time is about seven o clock. I am climbing a climbing wall in Oslo. I have come to the top. My hands are starting to sweat. I remember that I forgot to use magnum on my hands. That would help me to have a strong grip. My hands are slowly slipping and suddenly i fall backwards 3 to 4 meters down. I feel ok, so I try to stand up, but I fall back on my glutes. I can feel severe pain in my left ancle, I think it must be broken.

Often times our life goes in another turn than we had planned. We feel that life is giving us setbacks, and we become depressed. As muslims we need to remember that Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him has said that everything that happens to a believer is good for him. If something good happens to him and he is thankful than that is good. And if something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for him (Muslim). We are often looking for the result in every minute, but results over time are true indicatons over where we are going.

Before the climbing accident I was living a very active and sporty life. The ancle injury changed everything. It took me about 1,5 years to recover from it. What I have learned in this time has changed my perspective for life.

If i hadn`t gained weight after the injury, I wouldn`t have started with weightlifting. My aim was to reach my physique as it was before the accident. I have enjoyed almost one year of weightlifting til now, and I am stronger, muscular and more skilled than before.

Sometimes bad things happen in our life. They change us and make room for good stuff. Over the years we see how it gives a new renewed direction to our life. And we come out better than we were before. If it wasn`t for this we might have never reached new heights of success. I might not go climbing again in my life, but I have learned other stuff that has given quality to my living.
