At work. As doctors, advocates, engineers. We are often very proud of ourselves when we attain some kind of position in society. People who achieve some kind of business or work, with a big salary didn`t come to that point themselves. They probably had many people backing them up. First of all their parents, their siblings, their good friends, and those teachers that guided them to make good decisions in life. Without these people they wouldn`t have been where they are today. Not only these people. Also other people who backed them when they were in difficulty. Prayed for them when they had some kind of troubles. Not only elders. It could have been a supplication of someone whom you hardly know. The same goes when it comes to something good or bad happening in your life, that turns your heart towards Your Creator. When your heart already yearns for Your Creator, you only need a little help, to walk, to join the right path. A muslim brother or sister who encouraged you to pray, a spiritual teacher who helped you remember Allah. and the list goes on.

Each Who Helped Us

Most of these people I have talked about in this text, helped you unconditionally. They expected nothing in return. They helped thinking of you, not themselves. It is very important, that when we achieve some kind of position, that we don`t forget these gems. These gems, who helped us, when we were lost, and needed good advice. They saw the potential in us, when we didn`t believe in us, as much as we do today. The best we can do is, be with them and help them, and do good for them. If that is not possible, than at least pray for them. Supplicate for them, every day. I would certainly not have been where I am today, without those people who believed in me, throughout my life. Ya Allah, have mercy on those who has helped without me knowing it, and while me knowing it. Ya Allah, each who has helped me while me knowing it, or while me not knowing it, grant them infinite blessings in both worlds. Aamen. In every one of every infinite blessing, grant them infinite new blessings of both worlds. Aamen. Guide us to the right path, and keep us firm on the right path. Aamen. Without doubt, Allah is able to do all things. I put my trust in my and your Creator. Allah will suffice me. Aamen. Protect me from those I know are bad for me, and protect me from those I don’t know are bad for me. Accept this for every ummati. Aamen

the worst loneliness is being without allahI was so far away from Allah. I had people around me. Friends, family, job, life. But being far away from Allah, it felt like dead. Like something is dead inside of me. I was afraid of my own shadow. My own hand. No one helped me to find Allah. Not as much as I needed Allah. I had to struggle to find Him. To come close to Him. To treasure Him. To struggle to achieve His Love.

Like The Air I Breathe

Now that I see other people who are far away from His Path. I feel so bad. I want to hug them to tell them. No matter what rizk you have in life, you will never be satisfied if you are far away from Allah. I know how hard it is to struggle, to find Him. I want to give out a hand for those who have no one to help them to find Him. Because I know how it feels like to not have Him. It hurts, it pains. I don`t know what to say than this: Find your way back to Him. No happiness is any happiness without Him. No kind of rizk, blessing will ever be a blessing without Him. All beings need Allah more than we need this air we are breathing. When we are not aware of this need, and not struggling to get near Him. Than we are truly lost. Whatever good or bad will happen in our life, we will be lost.

Worth Less Than Zero

If we have Allah, whatever good or bad happens in our life, we will succeed. The biggest treasure is not this dunya or anything in it. The biggest treasure is to love Allah, and struggle to live true to His cause, the way He wants us to live. That is how, in the moment you might lose everything, if you have Allah, and You love him, He can give you contentment in your heart, also at that moment. But if you win the dunya, and lose your faith in Him, no matter how big gain you think you have, all of it is worth, less than zero. Having faith, imaan, is everything. Without faith, imaan in Allah, we will be in loss forever. May Allah help us to preserve it and help other souls find their way back to him. If they only understood, how important this matter is for them. They would have taken out time for it. May Allah helps us find our way back to Him. Aameen.

outward, inward, tazkiya, soul, dhikr, tawbah, ghusl, wudhu, sheikh mohammed yaqoubiIt is not un-common in the days we are living in that people are affected negatively by their community. I have noticed this from when I was younger, though the materialistic values have increased. Often children are more obsessed about what they own so they can brag to their friends, and be of those whom are admired. Is the fact that someone has something a reason to admire that person? It depends, if we are talking a pure heart, good conduct, righteous friends, good company, good values, than I won`t disagree at all. Unfortunately what people rather admire is the fancy house, new cars, new fancy clothing, numbers of followers or friends etc. When in fact these things doesn`t say anything about the person’s real treasure.

It Is Not illegal To Be Rich

People are competing in a race where there is no goal. The development of technology in the world is increasing so rapidly that even if you have a Ipad 5 today, in a few months 7 or 8 will be out in the shops. We can`t keep up with this race without losing what is really important; our values. What is important is not how big your house or car is, but rather your values as a person and how close you are to Allah. It`s not illegal to be rich, but with it comes a lot of responsibility. In fact, the people whom have the most money will be the people whom will be questioned about where they used it. Alhamdolillah, tabarakAllah, my point is not that we sell everything we own, to live a simple life. It is mear to point out that just because you are rich, doesn`t mean that you can`t have the right values. In other words, focus on what is important, your values, your character and conduct. Your life and your hereafter.

Compete In Cultivating Right Values

Instead of competing in number of kids and size of house and number of cars, compete in cultivate the right values in your children and family, so that no matter how much you are blessed you will always remember the sacrifices our previous predessors made for us to be where we are now.  Not only that, but your family will appreciate the blessings more when they realize that it could have been given to others. When in fact they know the suffering of children around the globe. They would most probably like some children, join other friends and collect money for them, with what they can do. By selling lemonade and mum-made cakes, early in their life they will realize what is important. Everyone has a right to have a good life and food and water and home and security. Though because the worlds treasures are not equally divided between people, some have more than others. It doesn`t necessarily mean that they deserve what they get. They are being tested by Allah for what they are doing with what they have. At the same time it will keep our feet on the ground, when we realize that all of this is not given for our joy. The test of ease and the test of difficulty. Some people are tested by given a gift, others are tested by witholding a gift from them. Allah knows how much patience people without the basics in life, has to go through, of troubles that might be the reason why they will go to Paradise, years before the rich muslims. Abu Bakr Siddiq raa gave away everything he owned before he died. He didn`t even leave anything for his children, just to be amongst those people that will be entitled to go to Paradise first. SubhanAllah what a determination.

The Inside The Same As The Outside

In the time of Islam and the years after, people were more worried about the qualities in them that were not seen on the outside, their clothing and what they own. Nowadays people are more worried about if their clothing is matching their shoes or hijab, or for men if they have the right amount of beard, with the right new trendy clothing. Gotta look smart. If we put just as much effort in cleaning our souls, and our hearts, as we do in keeping ourself looking awesome, than maybe our inner and outer self would be the same. If we won`t do that than it might happen that our outer self looks better than our inner self. For people with the right values, their goal is that their inner self is better than the outer self or at least just as good. To keep their sincerity and intention correct they do as much they can in secrecy, to avoid show-off in their deeds. Whereas most of us are those who share the smallest achievement in regards of ibaadah, when in fact a simple evil-eye-affect can reverse it for us.

It Is A Worldwide Muslim Issue

I see people being consumed in things that aren`t good for their hereafter, and I feel so helpless because I don`t know what to do or how to help them. I`m no expert and not even close to what experts in this field could help us with. All I know is that mosques need to talk about so many topics in their gatherings with sisters and brothers and youth that needs to be dealt with asap. Or else we are in hands of our own destruction. This is a worldwide problem everywhere were there are muslims. May Allah preserve us and help us and guide us and give us a heart that accepts guidance. Aameen summae aameen.

siblings, brother, sister, sur, little brotherHaving children is a great blessing for parents. To pass on the legacy of Islam to another generation that will live Islam. Often both parents prefer sons over daughters. Mainly because they think that they will be the most supportive because they become providers too. They have forgotten that Prophet Muhammad pbuh`s legacy was passed on by his daughter Fatima raa.

Pray For Piousness

Parents shouldn`t focus on the gender of the child, but rather praying for it to be a good muslim/muslimah. Praying for pious children even before marriage shows that you are responsible and worried about their Hereafter. Instead of competing in numbers or a specific gender, rather be motivated to increase the quality of upbringing. We don`t always know whether a son will be more valuable than a daughter. Allah is going to send tribulations through our sustenance. We will meet both difficulties and ease. Thinking that those who have daughters are less blessed is wrong. Most parents realize later in life that daughters are a greater blessing. Mostly because of their softheartedness and emotional intelligence they take better care of their family/parents, compared to their sons.

Practice Equality In Giving

Often people with children from both genders, prefer the son more than the daughter. Prophet Muhammad pbuh was once sitting with some sahaba when one sahabi`s daughter came and she seated herself beside him. A while after his son came, he kissed him and let him sit on the lap. When the Prophet pbuh saw this he said that we can`t treat our children differently, but they should be treated equally. If you give a gift to one, the gift has to be given the other siblings. If not they will be questioned about that on the Day of Judgement. When Fatima raa visited Prophet Muhammad pbuh, he pbuh would kiss her hand and let her have his pbuh seat. She would return the gesture to him pbuh, when he pbuh visited her. He pbuh was also helpful in the house. Even if times have changes some men doesn`t help as much as they should. Learning about the sunnah might motivate men to do more.

When Allah withholds A Gift

It is Allah whom chooses sons for some and daughter for others. We can`t complain to Him and question His Wisdom behind the decision. Whatever Allah gives us, be grateful in good times and show patience in difficult times. There will be both. The happiest people are those who are content with the little they are blessed with. Being happy with the decree of Allah shows our dependency and trust in Him. He is the one in Control. We can draw a comparison through the lesson where a child is in his mother’s lap and wants to touch the fire. The mother knows that if he touches the fire, he will burn himself. The child doesn`t know that. The mother because of the love for her child, will keep him away from the fire. It is the same with every blessing. Sometimes Allah withholds something from us because He think something can hurt us through it. Other time He withholds to give us a bigger gift or to purify us and raise our status before we are given a gift.

Every Child Is Precious

Be fair to your children and express your love to them often.  Make them feel loved, so they are not misled by people. Fill their bucket of confidence. Don`t hesitate to motivate them when they are down, or gently correct them when they need to be advised. Teach them good values to make them a contribute for the Ummah and their community. Through your efforts in their early years they can be a sadqah jariyah for you. Most of all treat them equally. Sibling rivalry can easily be controlled if the parents are fair between them and each child gets quality time alone with parents, so they don`t feel neglected. The other siblings won`t get jealous of the love they are giving. Gently advising them privately is the best way of getting any changes in their behaviour that can be improved for the future.

Thank you allah, heartWithout appreciating what people have done for us, and being thankful, we are not appreciating what Allah has done for us. Because when people help us, it is directly sent from Allah. He sends people as blessings and inspire them to help us, in some way. For example there was a person that was drowning in an ocean. He cried out, “Allah help me”, when there came a boat from nearby and helped him. He was thankful for being saved. In reality the help was sent from Allah. Allah`s help and love is sent us through people whom help us and mould us in the people we become. So when we are not thankful for those whom have helped us, we can clearly see that we are not thanking Allah.

Is There Any Big Problem?

Imagine your own birth, and your mother giving you away to an orphanage, were you are brought up, without siblings and the security of parents and family. You are only given the basics of education to cope with life and are sent out in the world to save yourself. Now imagine the reality of your life. You were born, with parents, and grew up with siblings and secure home with good education, and your basic need were fulfilled by your family. You grew up to be the young man/woman and your parents found a match and married you to a spouse that became your world. Now you have a job, a spouse, children and friends with a succesful prosperous life ahead of you. Is there any big problem?

Right Priorities?

Most of us might say no, alhamdolillah we are blessed. But are you grateful? Are you thankful of Allah? Are you taking care of your parents, now that they need you like you needed them when you were borned. Time changes and I have seen more of people neglecting their parents need when they get their own families. Mostly sons. They forget the fact that wouldn`t it be for their parents sacrificing their life from the time they were born, they wouldn`t be where they are today? How can they now, when their parents are old, and in need of care, forget their efforts? In fact, when they aren`t thankful to their parents, they are being ungrateful to Allah as well. Hadrat Jibrael as said that those whom have old parents and doesn`t earn Paradise because of that, will not earn Allah`s mercy, and Prophet Muhammad pbuh said aameen to that dua. We are told to be good to parents and treat them well, and remember their favours on our life. Still there are so many married children, that get so occupied in their life, that they forget it, or neglect it. Sometimes I wonder how their children will be with them, when they come in the same age. We can see that times are changing. Not only in western countries but now also in some muslim countries we have seen homes for the elderly, where their children leave them their, and mostly doesn`t contact them again.

How Can We Return The Favour?

When I see old Norwegians going somewhere alone, without any children or grandchildren, my heart cries in sorrow for them. This is a universal value, to be good do parents, no matter religion or ethnicity. If we are not demonstrating good treatment toward or elderly than the next generation will learn that from us, and we will see the fruit of our work. May Allah wake us before it is too late. Parents are a gift, that no matter how much time you spend with them, once they are away, one always feel that the time we spent with them wasn`t enough. May Allah reward our parents with good in this world and the next and may Allah give them infinite deeds multiplied with infinity for every difficulty they have gone through because of us or anyone else, and may Allah help us to take care of them as much as they deserve, and help us repay all their favour upon us and make us a sadqa jariryah for them. Aameen summa aameen.

True happiness is being obedient and submissive to Allah, white flowerThe people we interact with influence us according to their values. Even if they aren`t our closest friends, their values can rub off on us. Some people say we become like the 5 people we spend the most time with. Be it at home, work, university etc. We can`t choose the people who are in our family, but we can choose whom we will befriend. Even if we have to work or study with people who are very different from us, we don`t have to let their differences affect our values. To be able to do that we have to have control over ourself with understanding and believing in our goals and be determined that we are going to make it, no matter how difficult the road might seem. Guidance comes from Allah. He is the only One whom guides us. We should always supplicate to him to ask for the straight path of guidance with a heart that accept guidance as well. Without His Help we are indeed lost. As long as we rely only on Him we can`t be lost. When we start to rely on ourself and our abilities, He will send us a difficulty to teach us who is in charge. If we have any ability to do anything it is merely because of His Love. He can take away whatever He has blessed us with. So it remains to practice patience and gratefulness side by side, and turn to Him always, every day, as often as possible.

It Is Better To Die Than To Be Disobedient To Allah

Who hasn`t had some friends with different set of values that has influenced them without thinking of the consequences of it being harmful for ourself. When we are practising muslims, doing the right thing might be hard, but it will be the only way. Your choice will be between: 1. Doing the right and 2. Doing the right thing. Even and despite the road being packed with difficulties. When we are so strict with ourself, we won`t allow ourself to fall into sin, and if and when we do, and yes it is inevitable, we would feel that dying is better than being disobedient to Allah. His true slaves turn to Him whenever they fail.

Leave The Place

To be able to control our desires and our emotions we need to be in control of our heart. When we keep on doing sins, it`s sickness is increased. It can only be healed by listening to Quran and doing good deeds, keeping wudhu, avoiding bad company, and avoiding sin. When our heart has come a bit on the way to becoming healthy, it won`t even like the places that leads to sin. If we ourself are struggling it is difficult for us to help others. When we are strong, we can face the fitna/tribulations that would be in such a place. We can`t save others before we save ourself.

Allah, Jannah, Muslim, proveA bad Friend Is Worse Than Shaytan

We need to be aware of our worth. When we know something is bad for us, we can`t be persistent in it. For example, a friend of yours ask you to jump off a mountain. Every sane person knows that you`ll die or break a lot of bones in your body, from the fall. Never mind that, he`s my best friend, how can I not do what he said, he knows me so well, and what would help me, right? The same goes for sinning. We need to stand up for Islam and be able to say “no”, and not follow a bad advice that will harm our Hereafter. Even if our so-called friends is cheering us to do it. We know that it`s not right, so we abstain. There is a saying in urdu that when one in a group of people is wrong, all the others will guide him to become good but what will the people do when most of the people in the group are wrong and only one is right. Avoid. It is like a group of young boys that just got their driving license. They are not perfect drivers but has got permission to drive. That means they need to be extra careful to not break any rules. The rules are new to them and they need to be familiar with them to know how to drive correctly.  If one of them cheers the driver to overspeed, they have only themselves to blame if they they come in an accident. Even those that doesn`t practice Islam knows that when we sin, we are going in the direction of Hell-fire, if we don`t repent and make amends. If we still wan`t do be persistent in going on that way, when we know the consequences, we are indeed stupid. That is why I believe in the saying of some elders that a bad friend is worse than shaytan, because shaytan only whispers to you, but that friend, he takes you to that place of sinning and doesn`t stop until you have sinned, so that you become like him. And then he can say, “Way to go, yeah I can see, you are a muslim”. The only goal of a bad friend is to make you just as bad as him.

In Good And Bad Always Turn To Allah

Bottom line. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. The more a person want to sin, the more Allah loves him, when he is able to abstain from it. Don`t rely on yourself or others. Rely only on Allah. People are sometimes good to you and sometimes bad, mostly according to what you benefit them with. Don`t lose your focus. Keep yourself determined to go to Paradise. And be aware that the way to Paradise is a road that is packed with difficulties. Though as long as we are persistent, we can find blessings in the difficulties. Whatever good or bad happens, always turn to Allah. Allah is in charge, He is the one Who has made the rules and regulations. He decides how matters are and how we can respond, out of His Wisdom. We don`t know as much as a grain according to Allah Who knows All that is in the Universe. How can we for one minute think that we know better than Him. It is plain impossible. When he asks us to abstain from something, even if we in our minds are not able to understand the wisdom, we have to trust in Him. He made us and know what is good for us. Only the maker of a vehicle, knows what is good and bad for it. Similarly, it is by Allah`s command that we are here in this world, so we must rely on the fact that he knows best what He wants for us. Accordingly He knows best how to handle our heart, and how to keep it away from all kinds of diseases. People wonder why some believers are in tension most of the time. How can they relax before they enter Paradise? The day they enter Paradise, with those they love, they will be content and rejoice over the fact that they made it to their goal. Sinning takes them further away from their goal, and being obedient makes them closer to their goal. May Allah preserve us, guide us and give us a heart that accept guidance, give us righteous company, and give us strong imaan and will to do what is right according to Islam and make it easy for us to follow Him. Aameen summa aameen.

My Prayer..

“O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. Place in my soul light. Magnify for me light, and amplify for me light. Make for me light and make me a light. O Allah, grant me light, and place light in my nerves, and in my body light and in my blood light and in my hair light and in my skin light.” Ameen
