When we learn something from our teacher. He (she) lights a torch of knowledge (wisdom) in us. The love for remembering Allah increases. Now it’s upto us, to take care of it, help it grow and to pass it on to others, and invite them to the mehfil. The love of Allah, is such, that no matter who your family, sibling, spouse, children, work, color, ethnicity is, without that love, everything we have gained is bitter. With the love and obedience of Allah, no matter how small achievement it is, Allah makes it good for us, increases baraqah through it for us, blesses us through the achievement. When we invite other to the khair (dhikr mehfil), we wish for them something similar as we have. Inviting someone for the sake of Allah, means we are not helping them for any personal benefit, except that if they start with dhikr, they will pray for us, and our own baraqah increases in our life. What good they will do, will also benefit us with good deeds. And the khair becomes a sadqa jariyah (ongoing charity), that lasts longer than our life. When we pray salah or do dhikr, it is for our personal benefit. Allah doesn’t need our prayers. We are in need of Him. If we only pray for a certain matter to happen for us, and it doesn’t happen, we can’t let our practice of love and obedience for Allah, die because of that. No matter what your blessing is, Allah decreases the goodness from that blessing, if you are not obedient to Him (Allah). We need Allah, just as much as when we are the most succesful human on earth, as when we are of the most un-succesful person on earth, in dunya blessings. Success without Allah, is actually failure, no matter your salary, your children, status, spouse etc. Ya Allah, grant us to win the struggle of perfecting our niyah, our ikhlas, our integrity. Aamen. Ya Allah, help us increase in doing dhikr every day. Ya Allah, Help us successfully pass on the torch of the remembrance of Allah, for the sake of Allah, to others, so it can become an ongoing charity for us for many years. Ya Allah, grant us to win the struggle in correcting those faults in us, that are coming in our way of us learning what our teacher knows we lack. Grant us to reach our fullest potential in becoming the most succesful “muttaqi of imam” of our time. Aamen

mixing culture, islam, poison, water.Often we see that the media accuses Islam and muslims every time they find that a muslim has done a criminal act. Is Islam the only one to be blamed? What makes a person behave in a certain manner? Is it only their religious beliefs or are their other factors that makes a person like he/she is?

Genes from parents and culture

We know that there are some hereditary factors that makes the foundation of a human being. And we also know that in a family, siblings with the same parents can become totally different. In other words their environment plays a big role in what kind of people they become. We know that parents with children who are brought up in different countries, are totally different from each other. The culture of their country does also incorporate different sets of norms in people living there. The norms of their home, kindergarden, school, college, work is what makes us. Our friends, family, siblings, colleagues opinions has an effect on us.

Religious or non-religous

Our beliefs in God and religion does also have an effect on us, whether we have religious or atheists parents, makes an impact. Though there are some grey zones in this as well. Some people give more precedence to culture other than religion. Some people mix culture and religion and call it by the name of a religion, because of their ignorance or lack of knowledge. Some people twist and turn their belief to their own will, and make the religion into something else than what it actually is. So for some people to call themselves christians doesn`t automatically make them christians. Some well-known leaders of christianity may call them a sect and ask people to stay away from them. If we ever wonder whether a group of people are from a belief, we should ask the scholars of that religion that we know are on the right guidance in that religion and has a lot followers and great support and consensus in the community. If every scholar of that religion are agreed that those certain people are misguided i.e. ISIS than what kind of knowledge does non-muslims have to call them religious muslims. Go to the source. When people twist the words of a religion and follows it, we cannot blame the religion, it is the knowledge and understanding of the people whom does it, they can question. When we want to know something about an organisation we don`t ask the cleaners there, we go straight to the management and see what kind of people they are. Some people are only religious by their name and other are practising christians, jews, muslims. Just because your parents are practising and religious doesn`t automatically make you religious either. Sometimes when one meets difficult situations later in life we automatically turn to a belief to find help and support. So even if you are not born religious you can become quite religious because of your circumstances. When people meet difficulties they find comfort in praying to God, and hand over their problems to be inspired some solutions, and help for their troubles.

Many factors that has an impact on our behaviour

There are so many factors that has an impact on us and makes us the way we are, not only our beliefs. So for the media to only mention a criminal act as it was because he was a muslim, is not fair to Islam and far from the truth. We don`t need a PhD to understand this. It is common sence. Though media has an agenda making Muslims and Islam their enemy. May Allah protect us from such journalism that doesn`t write about the truth but twists their word according to their opinions. Ameen.

intentionThe wonderful thing about Islam is that when oneself starts being more practising you want other to also feel the joy of being a good muslim as well, so you share your stories and your naseeha`s to other in hope that they also find the blessings of being a good muslim. I mean who doesn`t want to get the reward for that? Though there is something that can go very wrong sometimes. I will talk about that here.

Giving naseeha to others isn`t something bad, as long as one has oneself`s niyah in check. Having a personal agenda when giving the naseeha won`t give you any reward at all. First of all you have to be a dai for Allah not for anyone else. Or for making others feel that they are worse than others. I have seen and experienced that some people want to bring out the faults of others and say some bad things about others, and hide behind the saying, “just giving naseeha, don`t take it personal”. They are actually digging their own grave if they don`t have the right intention behind the deed.

Other times some people say things to others in a way that agitates others. I guess if you really want to help others, first have good manners so you say things in the best way so you don`t hurt other people’s feelings by being rude. Lets put it this way. If you know some people have som bad habits, by saying to them you know you have that and that bad habit, you know, that won`t change them. It would rather agitate them and could, may Allah forbid, make them even worse. So instead try to be polite and instead of  just finger-pointing, try your best to come with solutions first.

I have stopped following some people because instead of coming up with solution, they finger point something bad about others, like they have a personal agenda. I don`t think they know the right ways of being a dai or giving naseeha.

I hope that the dai`s out there won`t see this as a personal attack, but rather some views coming from a sister in Islam. Give naseeha in the best manner with the best intention and the best way ever, with solutions to the issue, then know that what you say will make an impact on other people. And first of all become a dai for Allah`s sake not for anyone else.  May Allah reward every dai out there that is doing excellent work. May we learn and apply what we are taught from them and may Allah give us all Paradise in return for it, ameen summa ameen.

My Prayer..

“O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. Place in my soul light. Magnify for me light, and amplify for me light. Make for me light and make me a light. O Allah, grant me light, and place light in my nerves, and in my body light and in my blood light and in my hair light and in my skin light.” Ameen
