you-need-allahA summary of a lengthy story that was narrated from Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:

A young man of the Ansaar who was called Tha‘labah ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan became Muslim, and he used to serve the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He sent him on an errand, and he passed by the door of a man among the Ansaar, where he saw an Ansaari woman doing ghusl. He looked repeatedly at her, after which he became afraid that Revelation would come down to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), so he went out, fleeing, and came to a mountainous area between Makkah and Madinah, where he hid. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) missed him for forty days, and these were the days when they said his Lord had forsaken him and was displeased with him, then Jibreel (peace be upon him) came down to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Muhammad, your Lord conveys greetings of peace (salaam) to you, and says: The man from your ummah who has fled is in these mountains, seeking refuge with Me from My Fire. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “O ‘Umar! O Salmaan! Go and bring Tha‘labah ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan to me.” They set out through the streets of Madinah and were met by one of the shepherds of Madinah whose name was Dhufaafah. ‘Umar said to him: O Dhufaafah, do you know anything about a young man in these mountains? Dhufaafah said to him: Perhaps you are looking for the one who is fleeing from Hell? ‘Umar said to him: How do you know that he is fleeing from Hell? He said: Because in the middle of the night he came out to us from these mountains with his hand on his head, saying: Would that You took my soul as You took other souls and my body as You took other bodies, and not expose me on the Day of Judgement! ‘Umar said: He is the one we are looking for. So Dhufaafah set out with them, and in the middle of the night he came out to them from those mountains, with his hand on his head, saying: Would that You took my soul as You took other souls and my body as You took other bodies, and not expose me on the Day of Judgement! ‘Umar went to him and embraced him and (Tha‘labah) said: I want to be safe from the Fire. ‘Umar said to him: I am ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab. He said: O ‘Umar, does the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) know of my sin? He said: All I know is that he remembered you yesterday, and the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wept. Tha‘labah said: O ‘Umar, do not let me enter upon him except when he is praying, and Bilaal is saying Qad qaamat as-salaah (Prayer is about to begin – i.e., the iqaamah or call immediately preceding the prayer). ‘Umar said: I shall do that. Then they brought him to Madinah and arrived when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was praying Fajr. ‘Umar and Salmaan hastened to join the row (of worshippers), and no sooner did Tha‘labah hear the recitation of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), but he fell unconscious. When the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said the salaam (at the end of the prayer), he said: “O ‘Umar, O Salmaan, what happened to Tha‘labah ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan?” They said: He is over there, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood up and said: “O Tha‘labah!” He said: Here I am, O Messenger of Allah. He looked at him and said: “What kept you away from me?” He said: My sin, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “Shall I not tell you about a verse that will expiate sins and errors?” He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “Say: Allaahumma aatina fi’d-dunya hasanah wa fi’l-aakhirati hasanah wa qinna ‘adhaab an-naar (O Allah! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire) (cf. al-Baqarah 2:201).” He said: My sin is too great, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Rather the word of Allah is greater.” Then the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) instructed him to go home. He fell sick for eight days, then Salmaan came to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, do you want to visit Tha‘labah, because he is sick? The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Let us go to him.” When he entered upon him, the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) took hold of his head and placed it in his lap, but he pulled his head away from the lap of the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to him: “Why did you pull your head away from my lap?” He said: Because it is full of sins. He said: “What do you feel?” He said: I feel something like the crawling of ants between my skin and my bones. He said: “What do you long for?” He said: The forgiveness of my Lord. Then Jibreel (peace be upon him) came down to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: Verily your Lord conveys greetings of salaam to you and says: If this slave of Mine were to meet Me with an earthful of sins, I would meet him with a similar measure of forgiveness. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Should I not tell him about that?” He said: Yes indeed. So the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) told him about that, and he gave a shout then died. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gave instructions that he should be washed and shrouded, and he offered the funeral prayer for him. Then the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) began walking on tiptoe and they said: O Messenger of Allah, why do we see you walking on tiptoe? He said: By the One Who sent me with the truth as a Prophet, I could not put my feet on the ground because of the many wings of the angels who came down to accompany his funeral procession.

People often want Allah to support them. People want Allah to love them. We can’t compare the creation with the Creator. But still when we do, we will get a glimpse of how we can achieve Allah’s love and support through it.

A Mother And Her Child

Every mother is different. But every mother has one thing in common; she loves her child. The child who was made out of her own self, is dearer to her than almost everything. We know that even if our mother is angry at us. She is not able to hate us. If only for a little while. Maybe because we are made from her flesh, and Allah has put mercy in a mother for her child. When we behave in a manner she dislikes, she will most probably get upset. But as time passes, she easily forgives. Even if she denounces the action. She is not able to not love her child. When we want anyone we like to like us, to love us, that person will like us if we behave in a manner that person likes. And when we behave in a manner that person dislikes, that person will dislike us. People does not have such mercy towards us as our mother. If they dislike or hate us, they will still do that. No matter what we do for them. If we draw the similtude to our Creator in this matter, we can easily understand; when we do deeds Allah, likes, with the right intention and sincerity, He loves us. When we make mistakes, and don’t make astagfar and tawbah, He dislikes us. But He doesn’t hate us. He (Allah) hates our bad deeds. And He loves us so much that the door to Him is always open through sinsere tawbah and repentence. Til our last breath He (Allah) awaits that we will return to Him. When we knit a jersey or draw a drawing, we feel a ownership to it. Allah, our Creator feels a ownership of His creation. Like a parent feels ownership of his child. When a child does something good, the father mother will say to his/her friends, “That’s my son” or “That’s my daughter”. So If our child leaves us to another country or because of anger, and as purily as parents love their children, a part of them will always, wait for their children to come back to their parents, repenting. Allah does also feel ownership to His creation. Through Allah’s beautiful creation (world, sun, moon, weather, planets, creatures, humans- inside and whom are eaten and who eats. We can see and comprehend how smart Our Creatur must be. Because everything is so perfectly made, without any mistakes. If Allah’s creation is so beautiful and in such perfect system, it is because everything is created by the Most Beautiful and the most perfect in all ways. Allah’s Qualities/ Attributes are the Most Perfect. When we do deeds, that Allah likes, He raises our status and says, “you’re my friend”. Imagine people are very proud of having good, influental people as friends. If the Creator of the whole universe says, that you’re his /her friend, you’ve got yourself the most influential friend there dude. A friend Who just says to it “be” and it is. Don’t ever downplay that. And be truly thankful. And correct yourself when your gratefulness decreases. So if we want Him (Allah) to like us, we will accomplish that by living the way He wants us to live our life. And protect us from those things he dislikes. When we will accomplish that, according to our means/ resources, He will love us. If we lack, the ability to do this, we will not be able to achieve this. But a beautiful fact about Allah, is that he does not reward according to results, he rewards us according to our effort. In other words, even if we make mistake often, and we with pure intention and sincerity make tawbah, often, he will help us, and reward us for believing in His Mercy, and not giving up on ourselves. And standing up and trying again, every time we fail.

Support Of A True Friend

The quality, most people appreciate in a good friend, is support. In good days. In bad days. When we support someone, our love for that cause, is seen through our actions. In other words, if we love Allah, and want Him to support us, we can start with supporting the matters He likes. And Allah, Who is All-Hearing and All-Seeing, and knows what we do in private and in public. The All-Knowing of what we do at all times. In other words, we can’t hide anything from Him. So when we want to gain His support, we have to be true to ourselves, and clean in our actions, because He knows, when we are un-true. What will we gain of reward, when He can easily read that we just wanted people to know, we didn’t do the deed solely for Him. The deed will not be accepted. Such liars, we do not want to become. Lie to our own souls. What is the need for that, when Allah will punish us for it. If we want Allahs support, we have to correct our intention and sincerity and be just as devoted when we are alone as we are in public. Because Allah knows. He can see through us. How foolish we are, and false, when we can’t stick to important basic principles of Islam, when we are alone. Just because no-one can see us. A part of imaan/faith is believing that Allah is All-Aware of what we are doing at all times (ihsan). Do we comprehend that the biggest witness of our deeds is our Creator. If He will witness against us, how lost will we be in the hereafter, when our Creator will not even look at us because of His anger towards our disobedience of His rules.  Ya Allah, grant us to win our struggle of perfecting our obedience to You (Allah) in public and in private of every moment and deed. For me, my family, my friends and every ummati, till the end of time. Ya Allah, inspire in us good, and protect us from the evil within ourselves. Help us to recognize the good within ourselves, and make it increase our imaan, humility and humbleness with full submissiveness to You. Grant us self-empowerment. Grant us proactiveness in doing good deeds with great sincerity and intentions, so we accomplish deeds with the greatest reward and that You accept. Aameen summa aameen.

Humility versus arroganceWe are nothing without Allah. He is the One that has made us and given us life. If it wouldn`t have been His will we wouldn`t have been in this world. He is the one that gives us everything in this universe. Even if we would try to thank Him, the thankfulness would not be as great as what He is Worthy of. We do good deeds because He has ordered us to do them, and that is a good thing. Though shaitan try to put vasvasa in our heads. If we are sinners, shaitan stops us from repenting, if we repent and become good people and do good deeds, shaitan puts vasvasa in our mind that, if we don`t recognize the trap, we become arrogant.

In order to protect ourself from shaitan we must understand these traps and fight them with all we have got. It is not because there is any good in us that we are doing anything good, it is because Allah has guided us to do it. If it wouldn`t have been for His Mercy and Guidance, we would have been lost.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has said: If we have an atom of arrogance in our hearts we would not be allowed to go to jannah /Paradise. So people asked that one likes that her/his dress is beautiful and her/his shoes are beautiful. So the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Verily Allah is the Most Beautiful, and He loves beauty. Pride is to completely disregard the truth, and to scorn (look down on) the people. (Sahih, Muslim).

How do we ignore the truth? When we know that it is like this or that and don`t follow it, that is arrogance. Like mostly people know that in Islam it is made obligatory to pray the 5 prayers. Though there are less than half of the muslim or even fewer that actually pray the 5 prayers. We would say this about all the other regulations in Islam as well. Most of us have become part-time-muslims. That is not always because of ignorance. So if we believe, that we are muslims, we need to become Allah`s slave, because that is the true meaning of Islam to submit to His Laws.

Another thing written in this hadith is don`t look down on other people. Subhan Allah that is so common these days. If people themselves are doing good deeds, they would often look down on other people who are maybe sinning. Though they do not know the state of the heart of that person like Allah does, though they become a judge like Him and think they know everything. I read a quote one time that said, don`t look down at others just because they sin different from you. Allah could forgive them for sinning, but maybe not forgive you for your arrogance.

Also we do not know the state we will die in. The Prophet (pbuh) has said, that there will come a time when a person that is a good muslim, will become evil and die in that state, and that a person that was evil, will become good and die and that state. So we are not able to judge anyone at all. Me must always pray and ask Allah that we die as muslims, but for that to happen, we must also live as muslims.

What makes us arrogant is when we think that we have accomplished is because we deserve it or that we have worked hard for it. Though we might have worked some for it, but it is because of Allah’s Rahma over us that we have been gifted in any way. Not because of our deeds or our conduct. Allah test us by giving us gifts and by taking away gifts. We need to show thankfulness/gratefulness when we are blessed and patience when we are tested. Only then we will prosper. Allah may have given us a gift, but He can also take it away, if we don`t show appreciaton for it to Him.

We need to ask Allah to guide us all the time and always keep us humble. A supplication one can make is : “Laa Ilaaha Illallah, Subhanall-Ghaniyall-Moa3jzi”. It`s interpretation is “There is not God but Allah, He is Perfect, and the one who makes us humble”. (See picture for arabic spelling).

The Prophet (pbuh) has said: no one humbles himself for Allah but Allah raises him. (Sahih, Tirmidhi). What do you think will be the outcome of the one Allah raises. Subhan Allah 🙂 May Allah have mercy on us and guide us and keep us steadfast on His religion and make us His pious slaves. Ameen summa ameen.

My Prayer..

“O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. Place in my soul light. Magnify for me light, and amplify for me light. Make for me light and make me a light. O Allah, grant me light, and place light in my nerves, and in my body light and in my blood light and in my hair light and in my skin light.” Ameen
