tahajjud prayerAllah has given us so many opportunities to ask of Him, and we don`t even utilize them. Just think where it could lead us if we knew of every such opportunity? Each and every want their supplications to be answered, but when is the most auspicious time to make dua? It happens every night at tahajjud time. Yes every night, so seize this opportunity as much as you can. Especially now that the nights are so long it shouldn`t be any problem to stand up for prayer at night.

Sheikh Yasir Qadhi has said: “If you want something in your life and you aren`t reading tahajjud for it, than in reality you don`t really want it”. This should motivate us to supplicate at the most Heard time of the night in sha Allah. In night there is an hour that supplications are answered. It was narrated from Abu Sufyan Ra that Jabir Ra said>: ” I heard the Prophet (pbuh) say:

” In the night there is an hour when if a muslim asks Allah for good in this world and in the Hereafter, He will give him it, and that happens every night.” (Sahih Muslim)

So no more waiting for only fridays to make special supplications at the one hour before magribh ūüėČ This is a gift to us from Allah that I hope we can try to make the best of in sha Allah, ameen.

Also the Prophet (pbuh) has mentioned that rakats are of two and two at the night prayer. And read the witr at the end if you know you will stand up for night prayer, if not than you should read it at the beginning of the night. The special time begins at the last third of the night: It was narrated from Abu Hurairah Ra that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said:

“Our Lord, May He be blessed and exalted, comes down to the lowest heaven every night when the last third (2/3) of the night is left, and He says : ” Who will call upon Me, that I may answer him? Who will ask of Me, that I may give him? Who will ask Me for forgiveness, that I may forgive him? “.

There is no better time to ask Allah than in this hour in sha Allah. May Allah make us of those that read tahajjud every night and may Allah make us His pious worshippers, May Allah keep us steadfast on the deen and guidance and give us the best in this world and the Hereafter, ameen summa ameen. Remember me and the whole Ummah in your humble prayers in sha Allah.

supplicationsThe month of ramadan it is very important that we supplicate a lot to Allah for forgiveness and for asking for what we want. A supplication can change Qadar.

“Nothing drives back Al-Qadaa (a decree) except for supplication, and nothing increases a persons lifespan except for Al-Birr (dutifulness to one`s parents).” (Jami`At-Tirmidhi)

Therefore it is very important that one knows how the supplication will be answered. There are many ways of supplicating. Some people supplicate but their supplications aren`t answered. Here I will list a few points about the manners of supplication, so that in sha Allah you also supplicate like it is meant to be done.

  1. Dutifulness to parents is one way that leads to your prayers being answered. A person that is dutiful to his parents will always be guided to goodness. Allah will put love for him into the hearts of people; and he becomes more likely to have his supplications answered.
  2. It is advised that one does good deeds before a supplication. Those deeds that brings you closer to Allah, such as prayer, zakat, fasting etc. Allah`s love for His slaves means His being pleased with him, His help, His support, and His answering that slave`s supplications. Allah`s anger for a slave, means His wrath upon that slave, and His rejection of that slave`s supplication. Do a good deed in the Eyes of Allah and then supplicate, and in sha Allah your supplications will be answered.
  3. Seek closeness to Allah by voluntary acts of worship in addition to your obligatory worship and your supplications will be answered. Abu Hurayra narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: ” Allah said: ” Whoever shows enmity to a close friend of mine then I declare war upon him. No slave seeks closeness to Me with anything that is more beloved to Me than that which I have made obligatory upon him. And My slave continues to seek closeness to Me through voluntary acts of worship until I love him. And when I love him, I become his hearing that he hears with, his sight that he sees with, his hand that he strikes with, and his leg that he walks with. If he asks Me,I give him; if he seeks refuge with Me, I give him refuge. And I have never hesitated about something I do the way I hesitate to take the soul of a believer; he dislikes death, and I dislike his being distressed (or harmed). (Sahih Bukhari).
  4. It is advised to face the Qibla when supplicating as our Prophet Muhammad used to do. And we have hadiths that points toward it.
  5. It is advised to raise your hands while supplicating.
  6. It is advised to supplicate to Allah in secret. When one supplicate quietly and in secret the concentration and humility is better. You know The King of All Kings is listening.  You feel a sence of closeness to Allah. You supplicate for a longer period than. And for protection from jealousy of others. Allah says : “invoke your Lord in humility and secret. He likes not the aggressors”. (Quran 7:55).
  7. When one supplicate and is attentive your supplications will be answered.  The Prophet (pbuh) has said: ” When you invoke Allah, You should believe with certainty that your supplication will be answered. And know that Allah does not answer a supplication from a heart that is inattentive and heedless.”
  8. It is important to supplicate to Allah persistently and repeatedly. Making the same supplications over and over again. Showing ones humility and complete dependence of your Lord.
  9. Ask with determination. By doing so and being sure in one`s supplication one shows that one trusts Allah, that His Lord is All-Seeing, All-Hearing, and can do all things. Don`t say “if you will, give me that”, be determined. Think well of Allah, be sure that he will answer your supplication.
  10. Don`t be a transgressor in your supplication. Like asking Allah to help you steal or do something haram.
  11. Don`t ask for help for sinning or breaking of ties of kinship. Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: ” A slave will continue to be answered in his supplications as long as he doesn`t invoke for a sin to be carried out or for breaking of ties of kinship and as long as he does not rush”.

Remember that no matter what you have to not stop supplicating to Allah. Allah doesn`t like those whom doesn`t ask of Him. Allah says:

” And your Lord said; “Invoke Me and ask Me for anything, I will respond to your invocation. Verily! Those who scorn My worship, (i.e. doesn`t invoke Me, and do not believe in my Oneness, they will surely enter Hell in humiliation”. (Quran 40:60).

No matter what don`t lose hope in Allah. He does answers prayers but in his own way. Sometimes He gives, other times he withholds, sometimes he saves it for the hereafter, other times he saves you from a bigger calamity, but he does respond to the supplication. Put your trust in Allah and He will in sha Allah take care of the rest.

Duas prayers med tekstThere are so many times we pray for something, though it is not always accepted by Allah. It is mentioned in a Hadith that after our death when our deeds will be weighted, our prayers/duas will be weighed also. The duas/prayers that wasn`t answered in our life will give us plenty of heavy good deeds. Allah will make us so happy, that at that moment we would wish for that none of our prayers should have been accepted as the bounty we will receive from it in the Hereafter.

It is very important that we, after our salah, take out time for dua. Allah does not like the person that does not make dua to him. In case some of your prayers haven`t been answered they way you want it to shouldn`t prevent you from making lots of dua. Because we don`t know what is good for us. All our prayers are answered some way or the other. It is just we who complain because we don`t know better. Allah has three ways of answering our prayer; 1. We don`t get what we asked for, but get something better instead. 2. We get what we asked for in this world and the hereafter. 3. We don`t get what we asked for but Allah protects us from a big calamity.

If we look at this three ways, we could ponder over the fact that if the things that didn`t happen before in my life, I wouldn`t have been where I am today. Isn`t it incredible. Sometimes we can`t see it but Allah is fixing everything for us.

There are some “tools” of having your prayers/duas accepted by Allah:

  1. First of all try your out most to not eat something that is haram. Make sure everything you eat doesn`t contain any gelatine from swine or other animals that are slaughtered un-islamicly.
  2. Ask for forgiveness before you ask Allah of something. Admit Him your faults and ask for sincere forgiveness and then ask Allah what you want. That is the way of the Prophet`s as well.
  3. Earn your money the halal way, by halal work.
  4. The prayer that we ask for our muslim brother and sister in her absence will be accepted. An angel by our side will say: “and may you have something similar”. So try to pray for the whole Ummah¬†in your duas/prayers.
  5. Don`t have any grudges with your loved ones from more than three days as your deeds would not be accepted if you don`t mend your ways.
  6. In the start of the dua/prayer praise Allah, then send durood/blessings on our last Prophet, the dua you will ask preceding this will be accepted.
  7. Ask a lot of dua in the sujood, in any language you know, it doesn`t have to be in arabic, it could be in your own language as well. You are the closest one can be to Allah in the sujood, so remember to make lots of dua then.
  8. Know what you are saying in the prayer, when we pray with full concentration in our prayer especially when we pray surah fatiha, our prayers will be accepted. Allah answers the whole surah fatiha¬†ayat¬†by ayat, and at the end Allah says, “and my slave shall have what he asks for”.
  9. Be patient. Find comfort and joy in your prayers. If Allah doesn`t answer your prayer right away don`t say that He didn`t answer your prayer and you prayed so much for one thing. Only Allah knows when He is going to grant you your wishes. Pray that it happens soon.
  10. On fridays at the Jumu`ah prayer at the Mosque the dua/prayer between the Adhaan and the Iqamah, is answered.
  11. On fridays 1 hour before the Magribh prayer that is the auspicious time when prayers are, in sha Allah answered, make lots of dua at that time.
  12. Be thankful to Allah and Allah will give you more. Allah has said a lot of places in the Quran that he gives  a people something and instead of increasing in their prayers dhikr they become un-thankful. Think about this next time Allah grants you your wishes. Than we have every reason to pray more and more, InshaAllah. At least we can try to be more thankful to Allah.
  13. Love Allah that much that you ask him for even the smallest thing. There is a hadeeth from Aisha Ra that our Prophet said that if your shoe-laces are cut, you should pray to Allah that you get new ones. Because if it isn`t Allah`s wish that you get new shoe-laces nothing in the world can help you to achieve that. Therefore we should ask Allah for even the smallest things, as well as the big.
  14. Recite “Ya Samiyo¬†Ya Mojibo” often. It means Allah the All-hearer and the accepter¬†of prayers/duas.
  15. Recite “Ya Fattaho¬†Ya Razzako” often. It means open the doors for success¬†in my rizk. Rizk can be children, spouse, work, business and stuff like that.
  16. Prayers are answered when it is raining, so do supplicate then.
  17. A travelers supplications are also answered, so do supplicate a lot when traveling.
  18. Read “Ya Kadi-yil-hajaati” whenever you can throughout the day and especially in your supplications. It means Allah¬†“the one that fulfils your requests”. (In the start it is a kafh¬†with¬†to dots, so the pronunciation is a bit different).
  19. Read “Va-Yaa-Akramal-Akra-Mina” in your supplications. It means “of the ones who are kareem, You Allah are the most kareem, because of Your Rahma¬†over me accept my dua”.
  20. In your supplications, you can also read: ¬†“Rabbana¬†Ya Ghiasal-Mustaghisina-Aghisni”. It means “Oh my Lord, You are the One who helps, so help me”.
  21. Your supplication at the time you break your fast, will in sha Allah be answered. Allah answers the prayers of the fasting person. Abu Hurayra Ra reported that the Messenger of Allah said : Three people doesn`t have their supplications rejected, the fasting person until he breaks his fast..”
  22. The supplication after “salat-ul-tasbhi“, ¬†which is the prayer of forgiveness, will in sha Allah not be refused. You can read it here,¬†the manner of reading ¬†the salat.
  23. Read night prayer.¬†It was narrated from Abu Sufyan Ra that Jabir Ra said>: ‚ÄĚ I heard the Prophet (pbuh) say:‚ÄĚ In the night there is an hour when if a muslim asks Allah for good in this world and in the Hereafter, He will give him it, and that happens every night.‚ÄĚ (Sahih Muslim).¬†Read more here.

Allah does not like  those people whom don`t asks him of anything i.e. makes dua/prayer to him. He loves it when we asks much from him, if we ask a lot he will feel shy to leave us empty-handedly, so he accepts something. Try to trust Allah and ask him a lot, and in sha Allah all your issues will be solved.

May Allah grant our prayers and make us His pious worshippers and give us a lovely life and the best hereafter for eternity. Ameen summa ameen.

Laylatul Qadr

The night of Laylatul Qadr is better than thousand nights.

Abu Hurayra has narrated that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) has said: “Whoever stands in prayer during the night of Al-Qadr with faith and expecting reward from Allah, he will be forgiven for his previous sins. (Sahih Muslim).

It is said in the Quran: ” Therein is decreed every matter of decree”. (Quran 44:4). Qatadah and others have said: ” The matters are determined during it, and times of death and provisions are measured out (i.e. decided) during it”.

Remember to say a lot of dhikr like : ” Allahumma innaka a3ffowon tohibbol a3fva fa3fo anni”. Which means: O Allah! You are the Oft-Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me”. (Recorded by Ahmad).

The nights of Al-Qadr is in the last ten days of Ramadan; the 21, 23, 25, 27 and the 29 night of Ramadan. And remember the whole Ummah in your prayers, in sha Allah. It is important to notice this fact that the night of a day starts the time after maghribh, the day before in Islam. For example, if you want to pray extra on the night of 23rd, that night is on the 22nd day from magribh time. Just saying so you don`t  miss it.
