Jihad is equal to struggle. To struggle in the way of Allah. Struggle to be good with your inner self. Struggle to do righteous deeds. Struggle to be good to family, friends and kin. Struggle to remember Allah. Struggle to obey Allah. Struggle to speak good. Struggle to protect ourselves from bad matters (lying, backbiting, slander). Struggle to make our conduct good. Struggle to correct our hijab, modesty and control over our private part. Struggle to keep our soul, heart and body clean and pure. Struggle to get rid of arrogance and bad qualities. Struggle to support good and speak against wrongdoers. For the real practising muslims. The struggle is REAL. All this is jihad, to struggle in the way of Allah, to become a good practising muslim. Ya Allah, grant us to win our biggest jihad. Aamen. The struggle we fight with our own self (nafs) every day. Aamen.

Hazoor Paak pbuh talked about racism in his final khutbah. And till today we are still suffering from rasicm between different ethnicities and different colors within the ummah. Being arab versus ajam.

Nowadays in some countries if an important person give his recomendations about a person for a position in a organisation, he will get employed. In some countries if people pay money to get hired, they get the job, even when other people are more qualified for the position. Hazoor Paak pbuh told his own daughter, Fatma raa, if you want to be granted jannah, don’t rely on your lineage, but be consistent in doing good deeds. Imagine, his telling this to his pbuh own daughter.

Allah raised the rank of a black slave to stand on what is the most sanctified in Islam, the kaabah, to give a Bilali (raa) adhaan (call to prayer). His ranks were raised. His color didn’t matter, his obedient mattered.

We should not avoid certain people just because they are weird or unusual people. Allah also told Hazoor Paak to not avoid certain companys, just because some of the chiefs, disliked being in their company of the poor and weird. That is what is happening today. People avoid each other because of what others own, and wear. Not realizing that the true person is not mere there outside, but it is their values, conduct, behaviour, character, god-consiousness/god-fearingness.

We have lost such an important part of the sunnah. We have become arrogant (arab). May Allah help us humble ourselves without becoming a dormat. Aameen

dawa is a an art, dealing with heartsWhen inviting others to Islam, it is important that we don’t scare others away. By telling the hard-core truth, at every start. The dai most talk such sentences he/she thinks will touch hearts. By slowly make people think and evaluate their life, where they are heading, and where they can be. Same people are motivated by positive talk/scary talk/inspirational talk, but at different times in their life. If we tell an already depressed person, you’re going to hell (scary talk), he/she will be more scared, probably too depressed to change. Hence he/she needs to be inspired with motivational positive talk.

Give Insight In Their Situation

An arrogant, wicked evil person, might carry on his works if we don’t scare him/her of the punishments. So maybe a tad more talks about how big Allah is (rehman/jabbar). Even the Quran speaks about everything in saying if you do this you will go to hell. The sentence after is positive, but if you do this you’ll go to paradise. Or vice versa. Allah’s speaking like this is of His Wisdom. Maybe to scare people from doing wrong without them loosing hope in Allah’s forgiveness. If they do good, no matter what happens in dunya, they will attain a good hereafter. If they do evil in dunya, no matter the outcome here, there hereafter will be full of punishments.

They Might Persist In Their Wrongdoing

Prophet Muhammad pbuh always changed his dawa style according to the one he was addressing. We are different, and get scared or inspired/motivated differently. Once there was a man at the door of the Prophet pbuh. His wife Aisha raa came to tell him pbuh who it was. He pbuh said, this is an evil person. When he came inside and they talked together he pbuh was nicer than he usually is with other people. After the man went, his wife Aisha raa was curious of why he pbuh was so nice to him, when he was so evil. He pbuh said because if he would be harsher, that person because of his evilness, could harm his pbuh, by telling evil stories to others, and helping them get spread easily. So to protect himself pbuh had to be nicer. We also know by another hadith that we can`t be to harsh with evil people. Or else they will just persist in their wrongdoings. Do you remember the hadith about the man who killed 99 people. He killed the monk that told him he had no chance for forgiveness. In Islam there is always a way back, because of Allah’s vast forgiveness.

Understand The Audience

When a dai says yes to speak in a gathering in different countries, he/she has to find out something about the audience to know what to say or how to say something, or what needs to be thoroughly explained, what are their issues/problems, what are their good qualities. This is psychology. A dai can`t give examples of entrepeneurs in a gathering of doctors. They won`t relate to it. And the vice versa. To touch hearts we have to talk about something that catches their attention and will keep them listening and focused at the same time touch their heart to help them change for the better. It is not easy. But most dais are doing an excellent job. Ma sha Allah. May Allah give them aafia and barakah in their lives and success in their work for Allah. Aameen. For us to give the same dawa to everyone, everyone had to be the same. We know that we are all different. So we have to adjust the sail according to where we want to go.

positive parents, children, upbringingGood and bad health is in the hands of our Creator. There is also something we have in our hands to change the situation. Many people know the right of the parents and talk and praise those who treat them well. Though we need to talk more about how parents should treat their children also. Their childhood shape them for their adulthood. If we want them to be good contributors as adults, we nee to know how to mould them into what we want them to become. I have a few thoughts about this, I would like to share.

Children Above Their Age

Children need to learn the parents rights. The parents also should be aware of the children’s rights. If a childs` opinion is validated, and their parents make them feel like they can contribute to the conversation, even with their little intellect at the moment. They would be able to, see with amazement, that many times children say words that are above their age, and good for the conversation. It is the parents that build the childs` confidence in the beginning. Just like any spouse want un-divided attention, children also need a good dose of positive attention, love, care and nurture from their parents. If the parents are able to show this in a good way, they help build healthy people who are an asset for the community and the people they interact with.

parents recognize childrens abilites and efforts,Don`t Downplay Their Abilities

It is so easy to for a parent to say to a child, don`t be disrespectful. Though the parents must also realize that if you treat he/she with respect, and teach them how to behave in a good way, with encouragement, they will. If the only way to get any attention is when children does something wrong, of course, the child that need validation, would do anything for it. To bring out good qualities in our children, we must comment positively and take out time to listen to them and reason with them, to help them think good. Not only teaching them what to think, but how to think right. Don`t downplay their abilities. That is where they learn to downplay their own abilities, in their relations as adults. At the time a child is born, it is like a white sheet. Whatever it becomes and how it behaves depends on the values that are cultivated in him/her. The parents need to realize their responsibilities before it is too late. Encourage your children and see them blossom. Build confidence and self-esteem while keeping them humble and filled with humility and gratefulness. Knowing that good would not happen to them without the will and help of Allah and hard work. When they don`t win the game, appreciate their efforts, because they worked hard. We need to raise children that will be good for the community, muslims and non muslims, but most importantly, good for Islam. May Allah help all elders and children value and respect each other and fulfil their rights and obligations towards each other in a sunnah way and help them become resourceful for the community and to each other.

muslim couple, rights and obligations, quran, love, rose, flower, marriageOften when some husband take good care of their wife, and fulfil their obligations towards her and their children, his friends and family might comment that he has become a robot, where his wife decides everything. I want to highlight a few thoughts about this and why people might say such things.

We all are striving.

Some people are doing a great job when it comes to following sunnah. Not only when their friends and acquaintances are with them, but also at the time when no one is with them accept their loved ones and Allah. Some men are not shy off being good to their wife. Why should they be? Prophet Muhammad pbuh has said, the best of man is the one who is good to his wife, and I am the best to my wives. He pbuh lived what he said. He was not shy off helping around the house and giving un-divided attention to his other half. He gave them importance and supported them. If men want to follow his sunnah, being a good husband is also part of his sunnah. Not only praying on time and giving zakat.

Muslims can not be shy of practicing some part of their deen

No matter what others say. Hazoor pak saw has said he is afraid of a time when the disbeliever will be proud of their disbelief and a true believer will be shy of practicing his belief. I`m sure even those who comment negatively towards other, have their moments of being an awesome husband, though they are afraid of admitting it, because they see it as a quality we should not find in a man. How can they think that following the sunnah is not a quality they should have in themselves. I remember a time when Hazoor Pak pbuh was not to shy to admit in front of all the sahaba`s that the one he pbuh loved the most was Aisha raa. If he pbuh was not afraid of showing his love in front of everyone, than neither should any muslim husband.

Have we ever thought why other people comment negatively?

1.Jealousy/envy. Why are they so happy?
2.Not knowing what being a man is about.
3.Arrogance. That work is below my worth/standard.
4.Hobby: Putting hurdles in lives of succesful people.
5.Wrong understanding of Islam. Our rights and obligations.
6.Bad company.
7.Bad role-models.

We do not boast about following the Sunnah

Or become proud of the fact that we are Sunnis. To what extent we follow the Sunnah, shows the intensity of our love for our Prophet pbuh. So sometimes people might try to hide their good deeds from people to the extent that they would not like anyone to find out. In case they maybe returned because the intention is changing. The Prophet pbuh his family and sahaba, went to a lot of struggles for us. We must find ways to keep our intentions in check, but shying away is not the solution. The society has come to such matters, that we need good role-models that are not shying away from showing the right path, they have found. How can we say that we love him pbuh the most and be afraid to show the world that we want to live like him pbuh and are striving to cultivate his pbuh qualities in us. May Allah make us proud of our heritage in Islam, and help us practice it to as close to his pbuh life as possible. And not being shy of good conduct, even if we have people in our circle who are against it. May Allah guide us to good, till we accept nothing but good. May Allah mould us into what He wants us to become. Let us reach excellence in those qualities Allah and Hazoor pak saw like. And take out of our heart, soul and body, those qualities Allah and Hazoor pak saw dislikes. Aameen.

couple, marriage, holding husbandHave you ever received an invitation to a fiest and not been able to decide wether you should attend or not? Islamicly when we receive an invitation we are obliged to accept it, to maintain good ties of kinship with friends and family. It is seen as a sin to break ties with kin. I have a few thoughts about whether one should accept an invitation or not. If we are invited to a party where you know there will be music and free mixing while some are not wearing islamic dresses, if you are a practicing muslim, you would think twice before you attend such a fiest. If these things are important to you and they are not important to those who invited you, maybe you would feel uncomfortable and not easily fit in.

Attending Or Not Attending, That Is The Question

If we turn the situation around and a muslimah is having a party and you know it is going to be islamicly correct and not music or free mixing, if you are such a person that likes the opposite, you might not attend the gathering. Your excuse? It doesn`t match to what you think is fun for you. It is not seen as something good when we turn down an invitation. Though if attending that fiest goes against your soul and your heart. Those hours you spend there would most probably be like a punishment. When we turn down an invitation with these kind of excuses we are seen as extreme? Or people might think that we have so high thoughts about ourselves or think we are better. It`s not about being better than the other. It`s more about not doing something that your soul and heart is going to hate. If we were in touch with the emotions of our soul we would understand this very easily. The soul longs for Allah and Islam. Anything that takes you away from it, would suffocate the soul.

Shy Away If You Don`t Manage It

People are different. Yes we are in this world and have to live here. People who have the same ideas/thoughts befriend each other. It is very difficult to understand a friendship between people whom are totally different. For example there are people whom often lie and backbite and see it as a hobby to severe ties between people. On the other side there are people who wants to avoid backbiting and lying and likes to mend matters between people. I can`t see how these two kinds of people can be friends for a long time. If they will manage that most probably one of them will become like the other. The qualities of the people we spend the most time with rub off on us too. When one of the person will backbite the other might stop him/her and say don`t talk about others. One of them might have to give in, eventually. Maybe the person whom doesn`t lie, will start lying, because of the effect of his friend. Your friends say a lot about you. Some people say you will be like the 5 people you spend the most time with. That is why it is important to check your circle of friends and either help each other become better or shy away if you think you do not have capacity to manage that.

Respect Their Decision

If you see such a person that is shying away from your company don`t automatically think that the person think he / she is arrogant. Don`t make assumptions that make you misunderstand a situation. Maybe that person is trying protect his / her soul from company that suffocates him/her. If people`s idea of fun can be different. Some people find islamicly lectures boring, while others doesn`t want to attend anything that is un-islamic. Different people different preferences. Pointing fingers won`t make a lie become the truth. Respect their decision and leave it between them and Allah. May Allah help us understand this. Aameen.

My Prayer..

“O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. Place in my soul light. Magnify for me light, and amplify for me light. Make for me light and make me a light. O Allah, grant me light, and place light in my nerves, and in my body light and in my blood light and in my hair light and in my skin light.” Ameen
