light candle for peaceIt is quite interesting what the muslims has become. Whole her 20 years our daughter hasn’t prayed, worn hijab, or had the character of a good muslimah. But on her wedding (21 years old), we are holding a Quran over her head, as she leaves the wedding hall with 2000 people, when she is heading towards expensive car, with her non-hijabi wedding-dress. Somehow parents think that this will save her life she is starting with her husband.  Even though the parents didn’t spend time in teaching her good values, manners, sunnah and knowledge of Islam. Parents maybe think that keeping the Quran over her head would, in a magically way, make everything perfect. Most asian live their life, totally progressive of their religion. We backbite, we lie, we quarrel, we disrespect, we don’t pray, we listen and watch totally un-islamic media, we stab our friends for our personal benefit. In fact, most of us, live over 70% of our lives in a way that is totally un-islamic.

We remember Islam When

When someone disrespect our Prophet pbuh. Oh our eyes becomes read with anger and we will kill and destroy anything that comes in our way when we find out. Although the, car or people on the road nearby didn’t have anything with one person disrespecting our Prophet pbuh, we think that killing and destroying anything when we get angry because of our love for the Prophet pbuh, is justified. After all were saving his honour pbuh.

Anger Or Not Anger That Is The Question

Were not actually living life according to his pbuh sunnah or Quran, but still when someone says anything bad about our Prophet pbuh we get angry. Aren’t we being just as disrespecting of our prophet when we don’t cultivates his values, conduct, character in our lives and our families lives? When we ourselves are making fun of him by saying we are his followers but not following his pbuh way. There was a sahabi raa that wanted the prophet pbud to advice him, so he asked: “Advice me”. Prophet Muhammad pbuh said :” don’t get angry”. The sahabi asked again, because he was expecting another message. The Prophet pbuh said to him three times :”don’t get angry”.

The Sunnah Of Taif

Here is our situation. We are killing a person that disrespected our Prophet pbuh. When the sunnah of our Prophet, when he walked back from Taif, when he was brutally wounded, and blood on his clothes, he prayed for the people of Taif. And alhamdolillah a few years generations later, the muslims in Taif increased.
We don’t behave or talk or deal with others in a muslim way. Because of our un-islamic behaviour, people think that if this is what Islam is, than they are not good people. Since we are so poor ambassador of the religion we love, people talk bad about our religion. But they don’t understand. The religion is in fact great, but we don’t live our life as beautiful as a good muslim. When we make mistakes and people know we claim we are muslims, they interpret, this behaviour is Islam. But they are wrong. The sunnah of our Prophet and the Quran, is Islam. How we manage or don’t manage to implement it in our life, is our attempt to be a muslim. Our actions tells us if we are true in our claim.

An Easily Approachable Leader – Even for Poor People

When people once in a while came to talk with Prophet Muhammad pbuh, they didn’t know the etiquette of how to behave towards him with respect. Some times when people were very rude while addressing the Prophet pbuh when he pbuh was with his companions, because of the companions love for our Prophet pbuh, they easily took out their sword, and was thinking of killing this person. The Prophet pbuh because of his perfect wisdom, calmed them down and addressed the person in the most nice way. He pbuh didn’t say : he disrespected me, cut his throat”. He had such a good dealings with people. It is because of his good manners and dealings he managed to change hearts. Not by killing anyone or everyone who disagreed with him or didn’t give him the esteem he has. It is only through good behaviour we can change bad behaviour. Hate will not decrease hate. Only love can do that. When we start living our 70% of lives practising his deen we will be able to change other people’s bad opinion of our Islam and our Prophet pbuh. If we are not going to follow his ways, than we should be careful of claiming that we are muslims. Because our wrong behaviour is disrespecting and dishonouring him pbuh. And most people hate Islam, because it is true that we are more progressive than practising of the beauties of it. May Allah guide us of becoming good practising muslims. And understand that killing one person that disagrees with us today, will make ten more people on that persons side tomorrow. Instead use good aadab, sunnah, reasoning a try to change their thinking. Killing them won’t change the fact that they think wrong of us. And keep in mind that german person that used a lot of his life talking bad about Islam and even disrespecting our prophet pbuh. A few years later he converted to Islam, because he found beauty in it. After converting he was so guilty of his disrespect of our Prophet pbuh, he went on Umrah in the Masjid Nabvi and asked for forgiveness. Allah managed to turn his heart towards the truth. From that example we can learn if we stop killing people who hate us, and instead try to reason with them and show them through our behaviour why we are muslims. Not only by lip-service. May Allah make it easy for us. Aameen.

Today One Person Disagrees With Us

We kill him. Tomorrow, ten more people says the same as him. We kill them ten, the day after that, a hundred people say the same as he does. We don`t get more followers of our deen by killing everyone who disagrees with us? We can rather try to change people`s opinions by reasoning with them. Show them why Islam is beautiful. If we do the exact opposite of Islam, and somehow expect that people will love it, we do not have much hikmah to know that were breaking a bridge. Prophet Muhammad didn`t get more followers by killing others. He changed their hearts and reasoned with them, and that reasoning was backed up by his good behaviour, character, conduct. In public and in private. If we follow his pbuh way, we will also one day manage to change hearts and be the reason why people come back to Islam. May Allah make it easy for us. Aameen.

heartbeat Allah, tazkiya, purification of heart, serve AllahCleanliness is important to most of us. Living in 2015, most of us have the basics to keep us clean. The understanding of cleanliness between a muslim and a non-muslim is different. Non-muslims looks for the cleanliness of the body, while we muslims also try to clean the heart and the soul. A non-muslim may take a shower, brush his teeth and put on some perfume and feel clean. For a practicing muslim to feel clean he also would take time to take the ritual shower called ghusl, to clean his soul. He/she would spend time to clean his heart from that which make it become black, like hatred, jealousy, envy and all bad qualities that the heart has to avoid to keep it pure. This fight is constant and is known as jihad, struggle. The struggle with your own self; nafs, to do the right thing, according to Allah`s laws and avoid what Allah has prohibited. This is an ongoing battle 24/7 to put your own desires and wants aside and work for what Allah wants you to do.

Something Is Smelling

People may sit beside some other in the subway, and notice the bad smell of sweat or spices coming from someone. But have they ever thought about the fact that their souls also has a smell. If they abide by Allah`s rules, the soul will have a good smell. If the soul doesn`t abide by Allah`s rules or doesn`t believe in Allah, it will have a foul smell. After our death the angels will comment on our smell according to this. And we will see our deeds in form of a human who is beautiful=good deeds versus ugly=bad deeds and he will stay with us til the Judgment Day. We can`t spend a second with people that we don`t like to be with. How will our time in the grave be in case our deeds are not good. May Allah preserve us and guide us to do good and accept our good deeds and raise our status because of them. Aameen.

Sisterhood, brotherhood, world, earth, united, care jpg

A Message Can Be Sent Instantly

When the righteous pious predecessor, the friends of Allah lived on this earth, there was a time when people spent more time on cleaning their hearts, and there was more love between people. Now we clean our bodies but the heart is full of hatred, jealousy etc, so there is less love between people. Before people would walk days in difficult weather to meet people they cared for. Now we see, the world has become so little, we can send a message that will go instantly to the other side of the world, yet many doesn`t take out time for the people they care for, even if they live in the same town. May Allah increase the sisterhood and brotherhood of the Ummah, that despite our differences we can stand united and help each other. Aameen. Not abandon those who are wrong but gently correct them according to our means.

Clean It From What Does Not Belong There

Of course cleanliness is half of imaan, and we should use time and make an effort to keep ourselves clean. But don`t just stop there. We can also use time to cultivate our qualities as close as we can reach to the level of the sunnah, if we try. Not only polish our skin before an event but also our hearts, to clean it from what does not belong there. Abundance repentance, dhikr of Allah and read durood. If we use more time on this we would also be feeling beautiful, not only  just looking beautiful. May Allah preserve us. Aameen.

strong, brain, excersise, trening, hjernen (1)Can you imagine that sometimes when you speak with your friends, you`re giving away your good deeds to those you don`t like. If that wasn`t enough you are also receiving their bad deeds in your account. The worst deal we can ever make is to backbite others, and that is what this comes from.

What To Socialize About?

Have you ever seen people whom likes to tell stories, without any friends? I certainly have not. People like to be with others whom is good at telling stories. Doesn`t matter if they are true or not, as long as they are funny and entertaining. Have you thought of if people would stop backbiting if we didn`t lend them our ears. If no one would want to listen to stories because they would know that more than 50% of it could be all made by assumptions, and give them a deaf ear, they`d immediately stop. People need something to talk about and socialize about. I like the quote : “Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people” – Eleanor Roosevelt. If we think that we have great minds, why do we than degrade ourselves by discussing people? If we used more time discussing ideas, we`d might certainly find more solutions to our issues.

Our Perception Is Coloured By Our Values

What we talk about says something about who we are and is coloured by our perception of matters. Two friends are in a coffee shop drinking coffee while they see something strange happening. Because of their individual perception, they will speak and understand what they saw differently. They have invisible glasses on them that are made by their values. So even if they tell the story about this incident to two different people, chances are they won`t match. And if those two people they talked to are friends and somehow discuss what they told them, they will see how different they understood it, and how it is coloured with their point of view.

whoever gossips with you, will gossip about youPeople Like The Juicy / Funny Stories

Ancient historical happenings aren`t as interesting as the juicy and funny stories about their friends party the other day. Can you guarantee that a storyteller hasn`t told a lie? People like to listen to that which makes them feel good about themselves. What can possibly make them feel better than seeing someone they dislike, struggling in something. Prophet Muhammad pbuh has said that being happy when some people are afflicted with a calamity, can be difficult for them. Allah can save those afflicted with the calamity and make it a blessing for them and afflict those who laughed, with the same or something similar, that the other was saved from. So never be happy in others misfortunes. No muslim is allowed to make fun of or laugh of other fellow muslims or call them by offensive nicknames, Surah Hujraat. Seriously, today, do you know someone whom hasn`t laughed at another fellow muslim once, in a day. Yes we call ourselves muslims, but we are sometimes far from the manners it teaches. May Allah guide us.

Rasollallah Wants To See The Whole Ummah In Paradise

Another story which is connected to backbiting is something mostly girls/women do a lot; make allies. When couple of friends doesn`t like one person in the click, they can easily, fill their friends with hatred about them. She said, this and that about you, which could have been said but the intention for saying something and what it meant could have been 180 degrees opposite. Winning friends by fueling each other with hatred about each other, is not uncommon amongst girls/women. Jealousy kicks in once in a while and they don`t like that others succeed. Bringing others down won`t make you look better. Those who help other when they are down to achieve a similar success are the truly succesful people. Jannah is for all, right. If you don`t share your success stories with your surroundings in case they succeed more than you, your jealousy would eat up your good deeds. Imagine you tell something good to someone, and they perfect it more than you. One thought could lead to jealousy and the other to gratefulness. The gratefulness would come of the fact that every good deed that person does will be added to your account of deeds, just because you directed them to it. So all in all, being good can never be a loss. We should strive to become better than what we are today, recognizing our own potential. Our goal is not to be better than someone else at the mosque or any other event. Sallallaho wasallam wants to see all of his Ummah in Paradise. So if someone err, you can be a gentle reminder or at least, don`t be the reason others fail.

gossip1You Will Gain Only Good From It

A sunnah that can be revived is making excuses for your brother when you don`t know the whole story. If you hear something from someone regarding any matter, don`t think of it as the ultimate truth. One can draw a parallel to the mother of the believers, Ayesha raa. She was seen with another person and was left behind because of the necklace that she had lost on the way. When people saw here, they starting making all these tales about her. They only spoke about what they saw, but didn`t know the reasons behind. Allah proved her innocence in the Quran. Things aren`t always as they seem. Sometimes our own perception colours our glasses, but isn`t the entirely truth. That is why it is so important to have goodwill for our brothers and sisters in Islam. Whenever someone backbites anyone, make excuses, because we don`t know whether the backbiter is true or not or if he has made a tale out of assumptions. Think good of others. Give the backbiters a deaf ear. Next time they have something to tell, they won`t come to you. The thing is, it won`t be your loss. You will gain only good from it. Only when people will stop listening to backbiting, the vicious circle of blabbering mouths, would also stop. The punishment for the sin of the mouth is severe. A person can fall very deep into hell just because of some word he/she utters, or be given a higher status in Jannah because of something good he/she says. “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but those who watch them without doing anything”.

if you have no shame do as you please

brotherhood1There is a lot of malice and hatred between muslims of different madhabs. A lot of people in social media use more time in explaining why some brother from another madhabs is wrong in something instead of giving isla or dawa in general stuff people lack. Instead of strengthening the bond of brotherhood in Islam, we are having some serious issues of unity. We are fighting each other instead of being together against our enemies. The non-muslims are taking advantage of this and putting oil to the fire, and we behaving like puppies. We don`t understand that we are hurting only ourselves.

The Ummah Needs Unity

Without unity how are we able to cope with the difficulties the Ummah is facing today? Rather than correcting each others madhabs aalims why can`t we talk about those things that we agree about? There will always be some differences, that doesn`t mean that we should not be able to co-operate. We can rather look at the benefit our cooperation can help the Ummah whom is in a very difficult time. We need to show mercy to each other, and help each other when any of us falls.

Trust Is Diminishing

I listen to story`s from my parents that things were different before. Nowadays we have difficulties trusting even our own family, than how on earth will we be able to trust someone from outside, muslim or not. There is a hadith from the Messenger of Allah pbuh that there will come a time that when the muslims will start to fight each other, than Allah will not help them. Isn`t that what has happened. Our Ummah is bleeding on different places and we are not helping or caring for each other. Greed, jealousy, animosity, envy, hatred, backbiting, pride, bitterness is ruining us.

Deen Is Easy Don`t Make It Difficult

The Messenger of Allah pbuh said, that if one brother proposes to a woman, than the other brother is not allowed to propose to the same girl, until one of them turns down the proposal. Nowadays, sending a proposal is one thing, but people are deliberately putting hurdles in the way of other to get married, making troubles for them, that could lead them to haram consequences. If one person turns down a proposal, the people whom were denied put hurdles in the person’s life so that they`ll regret that they ever did that. Even if they later are not interested, but just so that those whom are more blessed than them gets turned down. What is their fault? They came in their way? They forgot the fact that our hearts are in the hands of Allah and he turns them wherever he wants. If you sincerely want something turn to Allah, instead of the creation. Using haram tactics to win, will not give any barakah in the marriage, but rather cause trouble. To win has become more important than the goal. People don`t think about whether they use halal or haram ways to achieve their goal. Belittling other and putting hurdles in their way so that they lose has become common.

i am to busy working on my own grass to notice if yours is greener

Water Your Own Grass

What has come to the world, when a brother or sister in Islam can`t swallow the fact that some people are a tad more blessed than them. So instead of watering their own grass, they put hurdles in others life. It has become a crime to be succesful. Why can`t we instead try to water our own grass, before we complain that others grass is more greener?

The Best Of Us Are Those With Highest Taqwa

Muslims with different colors and ethnicities are hating each other because they feel that they are better than the other because of their heritage, color etc. Isn`t that one of the things our Messenger pbuh fought to diminish. He said that no one is better than another no matter what their wealth, position, color or ethnicity is. If one of them are better than the other it is the one with the best taqwa / godfear that has the highest status. Haven`t we often seen that people with lesser positions in dunya, for instance someone whom is a cleaner, leads the salah, where people whom are wealthy is praying behind him. That is because the cleaner is with more knowledge of the deen than those in prayer behind him. Or the fact that everyone in prayer,  no matter what status they have in dunya are standing beside each other in prayer. No one is ahead of anyone else, except for the Imam. We are all going into the same place in graveyard no matter how much wealth we collect. We have definitely forgotten the teachings of our Prophet pbuh when some people are behaving superior of others.

Preferring Beauty Over Deen

Isn`t it a shame that people with good deen but not the best beauty have difficulty in getting married. People give preference to insignificant matters when they are looking for a spouse. The browner you are, the less proposals you get. Shouldn`t our first priority be to check if the deen is ok? How on earth will a man be able to lead his family in Islam, if he doesn`t know even the basics of Islam. How on earth is a woman going to be a good wife, if she doesn`t give any importance to Islam in her life.

What is our solution?

  1. Like the Messenger of Allah pbuh has said, wish for your brother what you wish for yourself.
  2. If he is blessed in one thing, you might be blessed in something he lacks. We are all blessed differently, try to count your blessings when you see others are doing better than you.
  3. In deen look at those better than you, in dunya look at those below you.
  4. Remember: with every blessing there are also difficulties, with every difficulty there are also blessings.
  5. Instead of becoming jealous or envious of others, water your own grass, and see that the fruit of hard labour does give results.
  6. If you fall back at start, remember there must have been some lesson in the game of life you didn`t learn what you needed to learn to reach to the goal. So life threw you back to start, to teach it to you.
  7. Look at what we have in common instead of what differs us. Our goal should be to better the condition of the Ummah. That is not one-man-job. We can only do that if we unite and help each other instead of throwing stones at each other. The youth can become lost while we are discussing petty differences, that doesn`t mean anything in the long run.
  8. Look for deen rather than beauty. People with good character becomes more and more beautiful as the years pass by, regardless of their physical appearance. If you both are on deen, there is much chance you will re-unite in Paradise. Shouldn`t that be our ultimate goal?
  9. Learning from others`s mistakes is intelligence. That is a great way to raise the status and condition of the Ummah from generation to generation.

We need to check ourselves before Allah does it. May Allah help us perfect and complete our light and strengthen our brotherhood and guide the Ummah to do good in all our endeavors. Ameen summa ameen

every kid childParents with children in the West are experiencing some issues on how to rebuke them to prevent them from coming in bad company. Issues like gambling, drinking, sex, one-gender-relationships, and free mixing is making the parent’s life tougher. We are all agreed on the fact that we muslims have some different values concerning these issues mentioned above. How can we as muslims prevent that our children fall into these traps. Parents are worried. The childcare organisations are on their neck to watch them whether they make one small mistake and they are so on their case for years. What can we do about this? We need to find ways of rebuking children in manner that does not collide with the West`s ideologi, but also something that works.

I know one time when I was a child, me and my friends once decided to “borrow” apples from the neighbour without them knowing it. Because of the thrill around it, not that we didn`t have it ourselves. I have done this once, and I got caught, and alhamdolillah, that made me stay away from it forever after. One of us, that was very strong, said no to going with us, told some other kids in the neighbourhood. We were caught red-handed. The parent of the owner of the tree came and rebuked us with very harsh words. No need to say, I never did that again.

The thing about parents disciplining their children is a very delicate matter in the West. Just one slap, can make them get reported to the childcare system. The worse part is that children are taught this at the school, and are really mis-using it to get their will with their parents. Not knowing that they are actually destroying their own life.

We need to prevent parents from ending up in the list of the childcare system. We can only do that by teaching them how to rebuke / discipline their children in a way that doesn`t go against the rules of the government. They need to teach them how to use incentives like carrot for good deeds and taking away some of their belongings for bad deeds. An example, you want your child to do their homework and get great grades. You say, If you show me that you manage to do well at school, I will give you XYZ in the end of the school year, or after one semester – the carrot. If you want to discipline them for coming to late one evening, without telling where they were, you can say, so now you have lost your, internet, phone, tv etc for day/week/month, depending of the seriousness of the action.

These incentives do wonders. But make sure you are not too nice or to tough. Also in this matter the middle path is best. Like good cop, bad cop. You don`t want them to run away, but you want them to obey the rules of Allah and the rules of the family.

Another thing is that sometimes things goes so out of hand, parents get enraged about something the child has done, and may slap him/her etc. The first thing the child would think of is, i will rapport it. The best thing is to avoid it. But believe me also the native Norwegians slap their kids and are not perfect parents. But we asian gets reported more easily because we have a more islamic approach towards life, and they are not that fond of Islam and our values. Who hasn`t ever slapped their child? There is a difference in one simple slap and beating them so that they become hurt. Remember that this is not the sunnah of our Prophet pbuh. He never hit or was angry at anyone ever. If you are a good muslim, and want your children to also be good, we need to implement the sunnah in our lives. Use the incentives carrot and discipline and in sha Allah, your children will be obedient and turn out well. Ameen.

Know that we are brown and wear different clothes than the natives. We stick out in a crowd no matter what we wear. We are not like them. But we also have faults. Most of us don`t know other disciplinary forms other than the desi type we have learned from back home. Un-learn them. They don`t work on children growing up in this society. It would only make them stronger in disobedience. If you keep on beating a kid over and over again, one day will come, that child we become strong enough to take your hand and say, beat again mum / dad. Or beat my as much as you want, but I`m doing as I want to. So you see that is not helping you, and it is certainly not helping the child who is your diamond of heart. If you truly love your children, and I`m sure parents can make wrong decisions but they never stop loving their children, than you would do what makes them become good and don`t become the means to chasing them in the arms of the wrong group of people.

Whereas love can move mountains, hate can misguide. So be wise. Be strict and loving. Never stop showing them or telling them that you love them. Not by buying them things. But by spending time with them. Talks and games and teaching them Islam. They are your amanah, and you will be questioned as to how you raised them. They are hungry for love. If their parents don`t give them enough, they will try to find it in the wrong places. We don`t want that to happen. We don`t want them to stray. This Ummah is one body, help each other and Allah will help you. May Allah help parents in raising their children and make every child obedient to Allah. Ameen summa ameen.
