you-need-allahA summary of a lengthy story that was narrated from Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:

A young man of the Ansaar who was called Tha‘labah ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan became Muslim, and he used to serve the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He sent him on an errand, and he passed by the door of a man among the Ansaar, where he saw an Ansaari woman doing ghusl. He looked repeatedly at her, after which he became afraid that Revelation would come down to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), so he went out, fleeing, and came to a mountainous area between Makkah and Madinah, where he hid. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) missed him for forty days, and these were the days when they said his Lord had forsaken him and was displeased with him, then Jibreel (peace be upon him) came down to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Muhammad, your Lord conveys greetings of peace (salaam) to you, and says: The man from your ummah who has fled is in these mountains, seeking refuge with Me from My Fire. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “O ‘Umar! O Salmaan! Go and bring Tha‘labah ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan to me.” They set out through the streets of Madinah and were met by one of the shepherds of Madinah whose name was Dhufaafah. ‘Umar said to him: O Dhufaafah, do you know anything about a young man in these mountains? Dhufaafah said to him: Perhaps you are looking for the one who is fleeing from Hell? ‘Umar said to him: How do you know that he is fleeing from Hell? He said: Because in the middle of the night he came out to us from these mountains with his hand on his head, saying: Would that You took my soul as You took other souls and my body as You took other bodies, and not expose me on the Day of Judgement! ‘Umar said: He is the one we are looking for. So Dhufaafah set out with them, and in the middle of the night he came out to them from those mountains, with his hand on his head, saying: Would that You took my soul as You took other souls and my body as You took other bodies, and not expose me on the Day of Judgement! ‘Umar went to him and embraced him and (Tha‘labah) said: I want to be safe from the Fire. ‘Umar said to him: I am ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab. He said: O ‘Umar, does the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) know of my sin? He said: All I know is that he remembered you yesterday, and the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wept. Tha‘labah said: O ‘Umar, do not let me enter upon him except when he is praying, and Bilaal is saying Qad qaamat as-salaah (Prayer is about to begin – i.e., the iqaamah or call immediately preceding the prayer). ‘Umar said: I shall do that. Then they brought him to Madinah and arrived when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was praying Fajr. ‘Umar and Salmaan hastened to join the row (of worshippers), and no sooner did Tha‘labah hear the recitation of the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), but he fell unconscious. When the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said the salaam (at the end of the prayer), he said: “O ‘Umar, O Salmaan, what happened to Tha‘labah ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan?” They said: He is over there, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood up and said: “O Tha‘labah!” He said: Here I am, O Messenger of Allah. He looked at him and said: “What kept you away from me?” He said: My sin, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “Shall I not tell you about a verse that will expiate sins and errors?” He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “Say: Allaahumma aatina fi’d-dunya hasanah wa fi’l-aakhirati hasanah wa qinna ‘adhaab an-naar (O Allah! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire) (cf. al-Baqarah 2:201).” He said: My sin is too great, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Rather the word of Allah is greater.” Then the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) instructed him to go home. He fell sick for eight days, then Salmaan came to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, do you want to visit Tha‘labah, because he is sick? The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Let us go to him.” When he entered upon him, the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) took hold of his head and placed it in his lap, but he pulled his head away from the lap of the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to him: “Why did you pull your head away from my lap?” He said: Because it is full of sins. He said: “What do you feel?” He said: I feel something like the crawling of ants between my skin and my bones. He said: “What do you long for?” He said: The forgiveness of my Lord. Then Jibreel (peace be upon him) came down to the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: Verily your Lord conveys greetings of salaam to you and says: If this slave of Mine were to meet Me with an earthful of sins, I would meet him with a similar measure of forgiveness. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Should I not tell him about that?” He said: Yes indeed. So the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) told him about that, and he gave a shout then died. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) gave instructions that he should be washed and shrouded, and he offered the funeral prayer for him. Then the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) began walking on tiptoe and they said: O Messenger of Allah, why do we see you walking on tiptoe? He said: By the One Who sent me with the truth as a Prophet, I could not put my feet on the ground because of the many wings of the angels who came down to accompany his funeral procession.

fitnaHave you heard about, a young sahabi, whom saw a naked woman doing ghusl, and been so guilty of it, and cried for a long time, until he died of it. Not only ashamed of the action, but by the fear of Allah, how Allah will punish him. This was a young sahabi named Tha‘labah ibn ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan of the time of Prophet Muhammad pbuh.

Don`t Walk Near The Pit-falls

We know that times are changing. This time is filled with fitnah. It is very easy for a child, teen or adult to easily get access to any kind of filth, without their parents, or spouse, knowing. Hazoor Paak pbuh has said, in the time when the sahabi lived, Allah expected more from muslims when it comes to good deeds and quality. Because they were many, it was easier to do good deeds, with good quality. Hazoor Paak pbuh, said the time will come when holding to your deen is like holding to a coal of fire. Allah will expect less of the muslim, because it is very difficult for muslims to do deeds with good quality in times of fitnah. So no, we can`t excpect us muslim to be as good as the muslims of the sahabi era, but Allah doesn`t tell us to give up. We must struggle. Allah rewards us according to our struggle, niyah and ikhlas. So we must try to find ways that can help each other to remove pitfalls, so we can protect our own home and every muslim from the ummah, who is listening.

Your Charges Are Dropped, If You Marry Who You Raped

There is a country with many muslims. In that country, when a man rapes another woman, if he agrees to marry her, he will not get punished by the court. I don`t understand how it is possible that a country can make such rules. I do understand that this can`t be ok for the girl/woman who is raped. First of all, no girl / woman can be ok with marrying someone who doesn`t respect her. Someone who doesn`t respect a “no”. By letting these men of the hook, may put out the fire, but it won`t prevent more men to do the same. Easy way out. We rape her, we marry her for some time and divorce her when we want to. This is not ok. Instead of this rule, that country, should try to change the mindset of the younger teens and men, how to respect a girl/women. You might have other from the same gender in your family? A sister, a mother, a wife, a daughter. We must teach the male gender that they have to work on their self-control. Be in control of themselves in tough times. No matter what a girl, women does or says, nothing can justify a rape, in any way. But the girl and women, need to be responsible with how they behave. We have to be careful how we behave, in front of other men. We can revive the sunnah of modesty in our life.

coal-hand-islamNon-muslims Are Attracted To Modesty In Muslims

Another side of the story, if a muslim girl/woman wears perfume, and goes outside where other non-mahram might be. This is not allowed, because men will experience fitnah. So some people asked a scholar, what if a man puts on perfume? A woman experience fitnah. Then what? Some scholars say the reason this is not applied to men, women don`t stalk men. But men can easily stalk a woman. Time is changing. Here in the west, the husbands, sons, brothers of our family, is a muslim minority. When they step out of their homes, most people they meet at school, college, work are men and women who are non-muslims. Non-muslim women has less barriers to interact with the opposite gender. At the same time single people are increasing in our country. Muslim mens modesty and faith, is very attractive. I`m talking about non-muslim women who are almost always being lusted by others, wherever they are. Many of them who get tired of this, wants to be loved for who they are not what they look like. It is not only a muslims identity to practice modesty, but can be seen in general in asian cultures, no matter what religion. Many non-muslim women easily fall in love with muslim men, because they see in them qualities they hardly find in their own people. So the fear of being stalked by a non-muslim women is not to fare fetched. A non-muslim woman can create more difficulties for muslim men who are in the struggle of correcting their hijab. The struggle becomes more dangerous. You can read any book about the struggle men have when a beautiful women is nearby. They struggle to perfect the hijab, is much more difficult. A readable book: what you need to know about the inner life of men, by shaunti Feldhahn.

Muslim Girls Who Travel Alone

Non-muslim girls and women aren`t the only who make the struggle harder for men. Because of the weak iman in many muslim girls and women, they can easily become a stalker themselves. Nowadays, it`s not seen as difficult, for a group of muslim girls/ women to go for a vacation without any mahram. Many travel only with their female friends to many countries. If a muslim girl can take the airplane to scotland, to visit a friend, or relax for a weekend trip, it can most certainly, not be difficult for her to find out about another male muslim, where he lives, matters about his life, and try to make him like her, and want to marry her. In other words, men who aren`t working on their hijab, and use perfume, and look good, will experience fitnah from non-muslim girls/women AND muslim girls/women. So yeah their struggle is real. I can`t say I want muslim men to not go outside, they are the provider. They have to. But they must be aware of these matters. Ya Allah, grant all muslim men of the ummah to win the struggle to perfect their hijab, in public and private. Protect them from experiencing fitnah and bad company. Aameen

Fear Of Tribulations For Both Genders

An aspect that is less talked about because of the tabu issue, is the fact that a girl/ woman raping a boy/ man. Just because it is less addressed doesn`t mean it doesn`t happen. Mostly men are seen as the strong, so it is very difficult for them to admit that a girl/ woman tried or succeeded in raping them. Since we already have realized the big tribulations are on rise, there are girls/women who are guilty of this. This is a very sensitive topic. But it needs to be addressed. The numbers are unknown. This is a very important reason, why muslim girls / women must be helped to correct their hijab by their family, friends or the muslim women leaders of the community. When a girl/ woman says she has been raped, everyone immediately, accepts that as the truth, because she is the weak part, most of the times. When boys / men have been raped, it`s more difficult for them to complain to the police, because of shame of being man and weak. If and when they feel that, they need to read the surah Yusuf, chapter of Quran. Both gender can experience someone trying to seduce them. We must help each other and all the community to find solutions, and help to protect every marriage in the community. Ya Allah, make it easy for all the ummah to win the constant struggle of perfecting our hijab, in public and private. Ya Allah grant every ummati to master their self-control in public and private. Ya Allah, grant the ummah to win the struggle of protecting ourself and each other from bad company. Ya Allah, help all the ummati to win the struggle of being in good company all the time. Don`t let bad qualities have any effect on any ummati. Inspire the muslim women/men leaders, to address their followers about this, in a way that will have good effect on those listening. Aameen

prophet-muhammad-pbuh-i-love-mohammadOne matter we can improve is helping our children to get addicted to reading drud sharif as early as possible. There are many benefits of reading drud sharif, but the reason why I`ve heard it is good for families, is that it brings gentleness into our conduct. Many parents often complain that teens often become very rude and difficult. Reading drud often, everyday, can be something that tames their emotions and grant them control over themselves, so they become more easygoing, even within the family, not only with their friends.

Cultivate Gentleness In Your Child

Parents have a big job cultivating good qualities in their children. Often times as the child is growing, parents give their children different duties they have to do everyday, or some days in the week, to help them learn new task through responsibility. The parents make a chart for the whole week, and give a star for every accomplished work. One duty they can add to those chores is reading 100 drud sharif every day, in front of their parents, in the start, just so that the parents can hear them, help them recite it correctly, and make sure, they are actually reading it. As the child will get the hang of it, and the taste of it`s delights, parents can often say, if all four children read, drud every day 500 times, when each of the family member has read 10 000 drud or 100 000 drud, we will celebrate with an outing on a good halal restaurant, or a vacation somewhere they want to go, with islamic content, or some kind of reward / goal, you will easily motivate them.

The Atmosphere Will Change Positively

If your child start reading drud sharif regularly, You will see an immense difference in their attitude and behaviour. They will become more gentle in everything they do and say, and they will start liking sunnah deeds. Their love for Hazoor Paak pbuh will increase, and through that love, their obedience to Allah in private and public will improve. The drud sharif will beautify their inside and outside, with good sunnah conduct and noraniyat. What else can a muslim parent want for his / her child / teen? This will change the entire atmosphere of the house. Soon you will have less quarrels, more love and gracious practice towards each other. The love within the family, will increase. When the children slowly realize the good effect of reading drud sharif in their life, they will increase their practice of it, regardless of your motivation. When that happens you have done a great job, guiding your child to healthy habits. This will bring them bliss in this life and the hereafter. The drud sharif supports the reader of it, until the reader reads drud sharif so much, that Allah make it, the readers vasila, and take all his / her matters in His own Hands. Ya Allah grant this for every child, teen and adult of the ummah. Aameen.

muslim-child-boy-sujodWhen a child steps out of the toilet, most mothers will ask: “Did you remember to wash your hands, dear?”. If the mother is a practising muslimah, she will most probably add: “Did you remember to wash yourself behind with water, and did you remember to wash your hands after that?”. Muslims take cleanliness very seriously. We have been taught from our religion that the purity of our income (halal earning), the purity of what we eat (halal food), has an effect on how we behave, what we think etc.

A Man And The Desert

There was a man in the desert who had lost his camel, with food and water. He was all alone. Left to die. In his last effort to find help, he falls on his knees and prays to Allah “help me”. In response of this Allah says, ” how can I help you, when what you are wearing comes from un-halal resources. What you have eaten is un-halal food. What you have been doing is un-halal. How can Allah, accept your prayer.

marsmallow-white Say No To Marshmallows With Gelatine

We have difficulties in controlling our desires for money, status, beauty, position, wealth, satisfy needs of body. This is because, just like our body needs to exercise to be strong, and our intellect is in need of training to increase IQ, our soul needs spirituality to keep it strong, our will (nafs – myself) needs exercise to make good decisions in life and being able to withhold oneself from prohibitions. To be able to not steal a marshmallow, when your hungry, just because, there is some time before you will have your own marshmallow. Ability to say no to women / men who wants to have sex with you. (Like Yusuf a.s in surah Yusuf). The lesson talks about a young man who was seduced by a woman, but muslim women, young and beautiful, have difficulties, stepping out of their homes too, for college, for work, for mosque etc. Many have hijab, and many don’t. Nowadays many women beautify their hijab, which caused fitnah, and the main purpose of hijab is lost. How can youth and adults win the control over ourself in times of fitnah?

Cultivate Sweetness Of Salah, Khusho, Complete Fardh

Hazoor Pak pbuh has said, the first matter we will lose, when the fitnah occurs is the khusho. The salah was the greatest comforter for our Prophet pbuh. When he lost his first wife, Khadijah raa and His pbuh uncle, and his pbuh enemies increased, and he pbuh had no tribe leaders who could support him like his pbuh uncle. The incident of Taif, when he pbuh tried to win some support, and was humiliated and injured, by the people in that city. Allah gave him the gift of salah to find comfort. Imagine if the fitnah in world is increasing and we will lose what will take away our biggest comfort, what state will we be in than. Trying to find another comfort. Is there anyone who can comfort us as the deen of Allah? NO. Most of those who pray, knows how difficult it is to develop khusho in salah. It is a bit like sweetness of salah. No one will be granted the sweetness of anything, unless they first do the minimum fardh. So if the state of the ummah is, that about 10 percent of us read salah 5 times a day, those who read it once in a while, will not be able to cultivate proper khusho. So we need to help each other to encourage reading the five daily prayers, everyday, no matter what.

At The Time Of Desires Or Anger

In times of anger and desire, many people are not able to control their nafs. They go out of control, and later regret. Hazoor Paak pbuh has taught us to do wudhu in times of anger and desires. That will reduce it, and give us a control back. At the same time it cleans us from our impurities, when the sins falls with the drops that goes into the sink. We need to revive the sunnah of doing wudhu and keeping wudhu. A muslim who prays, must do wudhu minimum 5 times a day. If we keep ourselves in the state of wudhu, we will also have angels accompany us. And Allah will protect us. Purity is not only for the soul and the body. We must do tawbah and repentance everyday, to clean our impurities of bad qualities in the heart. The gossiping, envy, jealousy, arrogance comes from an un-clean heart. If we clean it everyday, the good of it will be seen more often. Our deeds says a lot about the state of our heart. If we are good in public and private, it is because of a good heart, purified from bad qualities. Ya Allah grant us to win the struggle and master our effort of perfecting our tawbah and repentance every day. For us, our family, friends and all ummati. Another aspect of purity is, to keep our clothes clean from impurities. Cleaning the private part, and clothing, in a way that it stays clean and pure. If it wouldn`t have been for or Islam, would we have done this? How different stains of najasa, impurity, has to be washed. If our clothing is not clean and our wudhu not properly done, our salah will not be accepted. Keeping ourself pure, in soul, body, clothing and food, is because of what we learn from our religion.

Tools For Youth To Find Comfort

From our child turns 9, he is guided to start salah. From the reading of the daily prayers he understands cleanliness. As he turns into a teen, he will experience more fitnah, at the same type of feelings he has to understand. His body is changing. He has to find himself. Wants and dislikes, hobbies, friends. Allah didn`t make salah a fardh from year of 9 without any wisdom behind it. If your child learns to do wudhu often to get control over desires, anger in puberty. At the same time finds comfort through salah. You have helped him find a way to cope through his teens, with tools that can help him prosper. Not only is he completing the fardh, his ranks are raised because of it. He is of those who will achieve the Throne of Allah on his head, because he turned to Allah in his youth. Allah has said it himself, the way to find peace is in the remembrance of Allah. As the youth starts praying, he can increase duas. Strengthen connection with Allah through supplications. Read drud sharif to increase love of Hazoor Paak pbuh. If we manage to instill these qualities in our children. There is not much that can stand in their way of bliss in this world or the next. And when something negative happens, they can find comfort through the salah and remembering Allah. When our earnings are halal, we keep ourself pure, inside and outside, and are able to develop sufficient self control, what we say and do, especially for the youth, will be good. All this is to manage the ups and downs of life, and keep us firm on the right path. If we are not clean in our private parts, or our soul, our the clothing is not from halal money, and we eat haram food. That will have a bad effect. We will be doing and saying things that are completely prohibited. When we help the youth and give them the proper tools, and good example through our practice, help them make good habits in their life. Allah will support them and keep them pure. Encourage them to make tawbah and repentance often, to cleanse their heart, every day. Ya Allah, make it easy for us, to help the youth master the muslim tools to finding comfort, help, support. So they can become the most succesful muttaqi of imam, of their time, Aameen.

In Islam, family is important. We know for a fact, if we manage to make healthy homes, we will raise healthy people, who doesn’t lack anything. They become healthy contributors to the community. A house with much fighting, where basic rules of Islam are not followed, and prohibitions not respected, lose the baraqah in their home and lives.

Great Asr In Speech

The same similtude, can be drawn towards the dawah / islah of many muslim leaders. If they discuss about each other on forums, youtube etc, speaking bad, because of their differences of practising the same madhab as them, they are making a great mistake. Often where people fight often, their baraqah is taken away. If muslim leaders often engage in such talks, to talk against other, so themselves don’t lose followers. It will derive them of the baraqah in their work. The leaders are supposed to have great asr in their speech, that is supported by qualitative deeds of wisdom. When they say anything, it should, and will have an effect on the listeners.

Don’t Go Pro, Before You Master The Basics

Less than 20 % of the ummah, is following the basic guidelines of Islam, rules and prohibitions. For the leaders to talk about sweetness of iman, khusho, ihsan, with people who don’t even pray everyday, is ineffectively. They need to talk on the level their followers are on. If most people have, difficulties to follow basic rules, we can’t think that “following pro rules, like the khazane of more” will motivate them. It’s like teaching children on a university level. It just won’t be understood.

Striving With Basics

The ummah, that have trouble with the sin of the tongue, heart and private parts,  won’t be motivated by always talking about paradise, and it’s joys. Leaders need to make surveys to find, what people are striving with. When people will understand why it is important to protect tongue, heart, private parts from sinning, only than they will be able to protect themselves.

When Does Students Learn Best?

I have seen many mosques, where many sins of tongues and hearts can be seen, even in those who attend regularly, and are seen as pious because of some deeds. If we want our muslims to get to higher obedience of islam (university level in private) lets make sure, we must make sure they are following the rules and prohibitions in public and private, that were taught to them in kindergarden, high school, college, before they  can reach the university level of Islam. Because the test in mosque, doesn’t tell us if they are practising what they learned at home or with their friends. Before every teacher starts a course, he / she spends the first days, to understand the level of the attendees. This is because, the students will only learn best, when teachers teach from the level the student has. If it’s too easy or too difficult, this will have a negative effect on the progress of the student. And first and foremost, instill the godfear in people, Allah sees us. When we are talking with our friends, family and others. Allah is recording us. Without the right amount of godfear, no muslim teacher, will ever have a good student. No matter how many A’ he get on every test. Since the teacher can’t go home with his student, the result of test is only seen by Allah, when he is private. That is priority 1. Ya Allah, make it easy for muslim leaders to make surveys of their followers taqwa, so they can help them raise their obedience to Allah, and protect themselves from the fire. And instill a sufficient amount of godfear in us, so we protect ourselves from hidden sins too.  Aameen.

At work, if we follow the guidelines the manager makes. Do a good job, and support our colleagues, most people will get a raise (wages) and position. The same similtude can be drawn for a believer and Allah. When a believer follows islams guidelines. And prevents oneself from prohibitions, the believers ranks are raised, rewards of good deeds are increased, supplications are answered, Allah becomes a friend. Do you think a manager would listen to a rebellious employee? No. Neither will our Creator. Allah listens and responds to every dua. But the obedient believer have a greater answer, not only does Allah answer their prayers, He also supports them all the time. Ya Allah, grant us to win the struggle in becoming Your friend. Aameen.

“O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. Place in my soul light. Magnify for me light, and amplify for me light. Make for me light and make me a light.
